Join this 4-hour of Tuscan cooking class in Siena. The school was the first school of international cuisine born in Siena, founded in 1996.

The lessons will be held by Lella, the owner of the cooking school, that has always been a passionate researcher into old texts on cookery, and her lessons combine a mixture of both ancient and family recipes, coupled with only the healthiest and most authentic local ingredients.

The menu is not always the same, but every time we prepare 5-6 recipes, for example:

Bruschetta (toasted bread with topping) or garlic bread
Pappa col pomodoro (a traditional soup)
Pici with Cinta Senese sauce (a typical fresh pasta with a meat sauce)
Tagliata di Chianina con tortino di verdure (meat cut 'Chianina' with vegetable pie)
Typical cakes from Siena (Panforte, Ricciarelli, etc.)

Of course we can choose between various starters, soups, fresh pastas with related condiments, ravioli, gnocchi and pici. For example, there can be a main course of meat or fish with side dishes made with fresh vegetables in season. Desserts can be typical from Tuscany, or typical of other Italian regions.

At the end of each lesson, the meal is served with the food prepared during the lesson and is accompanied by of excellent Chianti wine per person.

My wife and I took the tuscan cooking class with Lella and absolutely loved it! It was one of the highlights of our vacation to Italy. Highly recommend making this part of the itinerary. Truly memorable experience.

Overall the class was okay and the setting was beautiful. Main problem was that the written recipes we were given did not match what the chef prepared in several cases. (For example we had a recipe for a white cheese sauce over the fresh pasta but the chef prepared a tomato sauce.) We met some great people and had a good time but as far as taking away recipes we'd make again that was kind of lacking.

This was our first cooking class ever and to have it right in Siena it self, WOW!! The food was great and I know that a couple in our party of 6 have already cooked these same recipes at home with much success! My only negative was the delay in translation. English was not a strong option for our instructor. Other wise all was great and we will certainly consider having this type of experience again!

My boyfriend and I attended this cooking school last week - 4pm-8pm with four course meal. We were a little late to start the class because of a large family who were on the fence about joining. This was a bit annoying but our teacher decided to start anyway... so we ended up a private lesson for two and had the recipes altered / technicality increased! We made a traditional Italian soup for starter, which was less to my taste, then pasta - a must-do in Italy, followed by steak and deep fried courgette flowers, delicious almond based biscuits for desert. Added extras such as bruschetta were given to us likely because we were just two, and all was served with a bottle of Tuscan wine. Excellent evening and great memories.

An excellent way to introduce yourself to the local cooking techniques. We had Francisco as the chef and Julie as translator. Our class only had four people so it was quite intimate. This activity beats going into another church, which are beautiful. Take the four hours and learn something and then enjoy your meal. What a bonus. DON'T miss this class. My wife is the non cooker and absolutely loved it. Don't hesitate it will give you a life experience that you won't stop talking about.

Amazing. This was so much fun and the meal we prepared was among the the best we had in our 2 weeks in

This was a great way to spend an evening - meeting new friends, learning a bit of Tuscan cooking and then eating what you learned. Lelle, Julie and Francisco did a nice job teaching and entertaining.

Lella is charming. We had six people in our class with varying skills. Her instructions were clear. And we had lots of fun. I am a cook but also liked seeing the process of an expert in making the cantucci dough and pici dough. I would recommend this for anyone wanting to pick up some tips and enjoy a wonderful evening with dinner and wine.

We had a great experience with our cooking class. Francesco explained in Italian and then Julie translated in English all the details for making fresh pasta, tuscano ragout sauce, steak with shallots and rosemary, sweet cantuccini biscuits and bruschetta with fresh chopped tomato. Individually hands on making our pasta and input for helping with the other dishes. Small class with just my husband Tom and a nice man from Australia made this even better! We enjoyed a great red wine to pair with it all! We were given the recipes and instructions for making later at home.

The class was one of the highlights of an amazing trip. As luck would have it, my husband and I were the only two in the class! It was awesome. Our chef and his assistant/translator were patient, kind and extremely enjoyable to spend a few hours with. We were able to help with many aspects of the meal and the dinner was delicious! This is a terrific thing to do while in Siena.
