Know More about this tour

Meet your guide in central Florence and, following a safety briefing, put on your helmet and hop on your hybrid, 24-speed bike a cross between a road bike and a mountain bike. Then, set out on your small-group tour, following your guide out of Florence through the Porta Romana gate, the best preserved of the original city gates.

As you leave the city behind, pedal up a fairly steep 1-mile (2-km) hill, stopping to rest and enjoy the city views as you climb. Admire the grandiose villa that sits near the hilltop and hear how the site is the first of many aristocratic estates belonging to Florence's old noble families that pepper the surrounding hills.

Continue past leafy olive groves and vineyards, following roads with little traffic. Stop whenever you wish to take photos, and on route, hear interesting facts from your guide about local olive farming and olive oil making.

After a while, stop at a gorgeous Renaissance villa nestled in the hills thats famed for producing wines and olive oils. Meet the winemaker host and tour the cellar where the wine is aged. Taste a selection of the produce, and enjoy a light, complementary Tuscan snack as your host describes the wine's characteristics.Typically, the snacks consist of bruschetta, crostini, cold cuts of meat and cheese.

Feeling rested, continue on your bike through more of Tuscanys hills and villages. Pass the house where the astronomer Galileo Galilei once lived and absorb more of the idyllic scenery as you return to Florence. After a stop at Piazzale Michelangelo to soak up the panoramic city views, return to the original start point, where your tour finishes.

If you wish, mark the end of your tour with an ice cream (own expense) from a gelateria before saying goodbye to your guide.

We really enjoyed our tour and guide. It was a great experience and enjoyed learning about how olive oil is made and the various tastings.

We had a great guide and enjoyed ourselves very much. I only wish we had biked more into the countryside. Next time we will sign up for the full day Tuscany bike tour.

We were three people and felt the trip was falsely advertised. We biked from florence city to a hillside hotel villa and vineyard. we walked around the hotel . We did not experience any wine or olive oil tasting , but rather had two glasses of wine with cheese, salami samples and olive oil was merely placed on table for bread. we never met any proprietors of the vineyard or olive oil - no understanding of what type of wine we had with lunch. at one point i had to ask our guide if we can see the bottle of what we were drinking to read a label. we got to view olive trees. we thought we would experience a true tuscan wine tasting adventure with more biking

if you want to explore the backroads of florence to a hillside hotel villa, this is a good trip for you.

We had a fun day biking with Bill and enjoying wine and stories about Florence! Bill dealt with our challenging crew with humor and patience. It was a great way to celebrate our 50th birthday adventure with a different perspective of experiencing Firenze. Motto Grazie!!

Was a real treat .Our guide was very knowledgeable and made a good tour even better. Not too much in the way of exertion except the hill at the start but a great experience. We wound our way out the city and had lunch and a glass or 2 of vino in the cellar of a 700 year old villa on the top of a hill. Our guide was very patient and took I to account the varying skill levels of our 7 person group. The tour was worth every cent particularly after some of the more formalistic historical tours in Rome and Florence!

I loved this tour! I almost decided to cancel because the forecast called for rain but I am so glad I didn't. I didn't realize that in order to get to the Tuscan country side we had to ride a little bit on the roads of Florence, makes sense in retrospect but I didn't really think that through at first. I am not an avid biker nor am I in good shape at all but our guide, Bill, made sure everyone stayed safe on our ride, even the parts on the roads. There were a couple of hills that were rough but Bill reassured me that its ok to go slow and after each stretch or hill we took a break and he talked to us a little bit about our stopping point so I had time to catch my breath. He also gave us plenty of strategic stopping points for pictures. I loved biking through the countryside, it was truly beautiful! Villa Piazzole, where we stopped for our wine and cheese tasting, was wonderful. I got to learn about how they made wine and taste some of the wine and olive oil they make right there. It seemed very off the beaten path and private, it was nice to get away from the more crowded tourist areas. I would recommend this tour to anyone who is visiting Florence and would like a unique taste of what its like outside of the city, it was a truly enjoyable time!

Even though it was his day off, due to some miscommunication, I was still accommodated. I got a private tour of the tuscan country and it made my trip all the more memorable.
Thanks a lot. I highly recommend it

Fantastic tour, our guide Michelangelo was very knowledgeable. On the day that other group canceled so it was just 2 of us and the guide which was great. The bike ride is up a lot of hills but is worth it for what you see. Highly recommend

Lorenzo was absolutely amazing!! My mom (57, not sporty) and I 29 (athletic) had a fantastic time. If you want some activity, true look at local/small Tuscan run business, and a great guide for any person interested. Will do again if back in Florence!

when we booked the trip we were a little hesitant about combining wine, bikes and traffic, but it was wonderful! We met Michelangelo and he had us fit with a bike and off to the countryside. What a wonderful way to see Florence ! We arrived at the vineyard and had a tour and a snack with olive oil and bread and some cheese and a taste of red and white wine. Nothing that would impair our driving : The ride back we saw beautiful scenery as well as getting ideas of places we wanted to venture back to later in our trip. The group we were with seemed in pretty good shape and we were able to bike all the hills without getting off the bike. This was a fantastic tour
