Know More about this tour

Ubud, known as an artist village for centuries, draws many visitors who seek crafted treasures in this cultural center of Bali. Meet your knowledgeable guide upon hotel pickup and drive by air-conditioned vehicle to central Ubud. En route, stop to view some Balinese traditional houses, which demonstrate a unique architectural design compared to those built in modern times.

When you reach the Puri Lukisan Museum, follow your guide on a tour of the exhibits, where you’ll find works of famous Balinese painters and sculptors on display. Learn about the traditional wayang-style paintings that dominated Balinese art prior to the 1920s, and Ubud’s royal houses and temples that were its main patrons. View works by contemporary Ubudian artists as well as traditional schools of art such as Batuan—practiced by Brahman artists—and Sanur, which features highly stylized paintings of sea creatures and other animals.

Not far from the museum is Puri Saren Ubud, a royal palace of Ubud’s last king. Your guide will point out the beautiful Balinese architectural design of the traditional buildings, now the center of Ubud’s cultural life. Head just across the road from the palace to explore Ubud’s traditional art market, where various Balinese traditional and contemporary artworks are sold. Walk around the daily market and browse for souvenirs from local merchants, who offer bargains on paintings and wood sculptures.

Next, leave central Ubud behind to explore the beautiful countryside, passing rice fields on your way to Petulu Village. You’ll be in awe of the numerous white herons (kokokan) that inhabit the trees, where they've been protected and undisturbed since 1965. Observe thousands of birds that nest in the treetops from October through March, when their eggs hatch. After this fantastic nature sighting, your guide will return you to your Ubud hotel.

  • Was not very happy with this tour. We were all crammed into a mini bus which was not easy for the younger adults very difficult for the two older ladies. We were taken to places that were ok but no commentary or anything. The driver and guide were nice but one just sat and didn't say much and the other just drove. The batik place and wood place were good. The silver place was a mixed bag of heat and very pushy sales people. Would not do it again and would not recommend this tour.

  • Only took me places he got a kickback from, mostly expensive stores. No museums.

  • I wouldn't recommend this tour, it's not a good value for the price. One would be better off getting a driver from the hotel who will take you to the most interesting parts, instead of so called galleries where you are expected to make a purchase.

  • I highly recommend this tour. The temple is beautiful. Most of all this tour explains the history and culture of Bali. The paintings of the local Ubod artists took our breath away. We did not go home without bringing 4 pieces paintings. Weda our guide is a very good guide. He is knowledgeable of the messages he wants to impart. Most of all he has good manners and right conduct.

  • This was a good tour but be careful of tour guide bothering you to do private tours with them.

  • The tour was pretty basic. It was actually boring and we could go to the uBud palace and puri lukisan museum by ourselves. Our guide explained some things but it was not enough to make it interesting and worthwhile.

  • Really enjoyed the tour. The guides were helpful and made it an extra special day for me. Lovely!

  • Great guide. Got a great sense of the culture
