A fascinating half-day underwater adventure for the whole family; experience the excitement of snorkeling in a coral reef in the beautiful Caribbean Sea and swimming in a freshwater Cenote in the middle of the Mayan jungle

Know More about this tour

The most important attractions of Cancun and the Riviera Maya are, in addition to its charming beaches, the mystical underground rivers that extend through the subsoil of the Yucatan Peninsula. Take advantage of the maximum visibility of the crystalline waters of these natural formations and live a great adventure in the heart of the Underwater World.

This marvelous half-day excursion will take you explore the jungle trails leading to a beautiful Mayan cenote, a natural well of fresh and crystal clear water where you can swim surrounded by mangroves and amazing ancient rock formations.

Continue your journey like a real explorer, bound for the sea, and admire the diversity of marine life that inhabits the region of the famous Mesoamerican reef with an unforgettable snorkeling adventure. Look closely and perhaps youll happen to see huge sea turtles feeding placidly in their natural habitat!

I booked this trip on A bit confusing as the tour operator was Nexus on the confirmation but the actual tour was operated by BLUE CARIBE
I did not receive any pick up time from Nexus but they did respond quickly when I sent an email asking them to confirm this
It was a very good excursion Valentin was an excellent guide and very informative and made the day good fun

We first went to Akumal beach and snorkelled looking for green turtles and did manage to see one
We then went to a cenote For me this was the best part of the trip as I had not visited a cenote before It was very beautiful and good experience Blue Caribe were the sole contractors for this particular cenote There was one group leaving as we arrived then our group of 9 had the cenote to ourselves

To snorkel at Akumal you have to get a boat from the beach which takes you out to the bay You wear life jackets but need to be confident to jump in the water and snorkel from the boat It is not possible to snorkel directly from the beach
The trip is advertised as a half day tour (4-6hours) but this does not include hotel pick ups and drop offs I was first to be picked up and last to be dropped off so the total length of the tour for me was 8 hours
