Following pickup up at 10:00am, visit the train cemetery and the town of Colchani tolearn more about Uyunis mining past and its current artisanal salt production. Then continue to the nearby Uyuni Salt Flat to the museum before exploring the salt flat itself.
During the rainy season (December to March) see fantastic optical illusions created by standing water on the salt flat. Also explore the Ojos de Agua where small salt eruptions demonstrate how the enormous salt flat was formed.
At noon, arrive at Incahuasi Island in the middle of the salt flat to see calcareous rocks, large populations of cactus, local fauna, andpanoramic views of the salt flat.
Continue to the northern part of the salt flat to visit a local museum featuring pre-Columbian mummies, then visit a salt flat viewpoint at the foot of the Tunupa Volcano before returning to your hotel in Uyuni.
At the end of the afternoon you will return to Uyuni.
