Start the tour admiring the Tagus river bay while crossing the Vasco da gama bridge, one of the longest in Europe (117.185 m). At Palmela climb to the medieval castle to enjoy the breathtaking view and then, down to the village historic centre, taste the Setbal Moscatel, which is one of the Portuguese wine treasures.
Relax for lunch in the fishing town of Setbal or at Sesimbra beach, where the local gastronomy, especially the fresh fish, is superb. After lunch, go to the highest point of Arrbida Natural Park to enjoy the magnificent scenery and paradisiac views over the green mountain and the Atlantic Ocean.
Then go to Azeito where you will visit one of the oldest wineries in the region (Casa Museu Jos Maria da Fonseca) and enjoy another wine tasting. The local sweets and cheese are also a must.
Finally, stop at the Cristo Rei to enjoy the view over the city of Lisbon, before returning to Lisbon, crossing the 25 de Abril suspension bridge.

Know More about this tour

Our Tour always begin at a place previously arranged with our clients, Hotel pickup and drop-off is included on this tour.

We start our tour through the city of Palmela dating back to the Roman period, having been conquered by D. Afonso Henriques to the Moors in 1147. We highlight as Main monuments the Pousada de Palmela and its imposing Castle, built around the 9th century, located 240 meters above sea level, where on clear days you can see Lisbon.

After the first wine tastings in Palmela we will enjoy a tasty lunch in the fishing district of Setubal, with the typical gastronomy of the city, fresh fish, seafood or the traditional fried choco.

After lunch you can enjoy a wonderful view over the Atlantic Ocean and the beautiful Troia Peninsula, a sandy language that stretches along the Sado estuary. The Serra da Arrbida is protected by its diversity of fauna and flora and its well-known white and fine sand beach with transparent and luminous waters, Figueirinha Beach, in Portinho da Arrbida. On the slopes of Serra, there is also an old Franciscan monastery, the Convent of Our Lady of Arrbida.

Next up is the pretty village of Azeito, known for its wine of excellence produced by the Jos Maria da Fonseca cellars, which produces the "Periquita" wine and the famous Moscatel de Setbal will have the opportunity to follow its production method by making a wine tasting. This village is also sought after by traditionally hand-painted tiles of So Simo, where we have a brief description of the clay molding process and its painting. To finish in a "sweet" way this visit proves a typical Azeito pie, typical of the region.

Travel back to Lisbon with your private guide, stopping to soak up the city views from the Christ the King monument. Your tour ends with a drop-off back at your accommodation in Lisbon.
