Start your day at the Vatican with a lavish buffet breakfast in the Pinecone Courtyard, followed by a small-group tour (limited to 16) of the Vatican museums before they open to the public. See highlights such as Raphaels Rooms and the Sistine Chapel before heading inside St peters basilica through a reserved entranceway to beat any crowds with the best tour in Rome. Alternatively, you can also select the Vatican Gardens breakfast option, limited to 25 people, which, in addition to the Museums tour, includes a coach tour of Vatican city and the gardens that are typically closed to the public. Know More about this tour

Your tour starts in the morning at the Vatican museums, where you will meet your guide before the complex opens to the general public.

Follow your guide to either the Pinecone Courtyard or the Vatican cafeteria (depending on the tour option chosen at the time of booking) to begin your experience with a scrumptious buffet of pastries, coffee, and other items.

After breakfast, head with your guide on your VIP tour of the Vatican's many famed sights, from the Gallery of Tapestries to the Renaissance art of Raphaels Rooms to the Sistine chapel.

Your tour finishes with skip-the-line access to St Peters basilica through a reserved doorway. Learn about the artwork like Bernini's Baldacchino canopy and Michelangelo's Pieta sculpture before saying goodbye to your guide when your tour ends (you may continue to stay at St Peters basilica if you wish).

See the Itinerary for more information about the two tour options and book the tour that suits you the best!

Tour with Pinecone Courtyard breakfast:
Take a seat for your outdoor buffet breakfast, which includes Italian and American items such as pastries, meats, cheese, eggs and pancakes made right in front of you. Sip coffee and fresh orange juice while you enjoy the tranquil setting of a quiet Vatican before the crowds arrive.

After eating, follow your guide into the Vatican Museums complex, which is still closed to the general public at this point (there will probably be a few other pre-booked tour groups inside with you). In your small group limited to 16 people, let your guide show you the highlights of this vast landmark during your 2.5-hour tour. Visit the Gallery of Maps, Gallery of Tapestries and Raphael’s Rooms before making your way to the Sistine Chapel, the pope’s private place of worship where you can gaze in awe at Michelangelo’s The Creation of Adam and The Last Judgment frescoes.

Finish up inside St Peter’s Basilica, where you will hear about the history of the artwork here before your tour ends.

Tour with breakfast and Vatican Gardens:
Enjoy a hearty American breakfast buffet in the Vatican cafeteria, where you can fill up on croissants, muffins, pancakes, fruit, cereal, cookies and made-to-order eggs, accompanied by espresso, American-style coffee, and fresh juice.

After breakfast, hop on an open-air coach for a 45-minute tour through the Vatican City State, listening to historical stories and interesting facts from your guide during the ride. Pass by sights very rarely seen by members of the public, such as the Vatican railway station, the Great Jubilee bell, the meditation gardens used by popes since the 1200s and the pope’s private heliport. The Vatican Gardens are only accessible on select guided tours, so this is a unique way to see more of Vatican City than the typical visitor.

When the coach tour ends, your experience continues back at the Vatican Museums, where you will follow your historian guide through the galleries’ many artistic masterpieces, finishing up at St Peter’s Basilica (same Vatican Museums tour as described above).

On rare occasions, St Peters Basilica closes without notice. If this happens, you will spend a full 3 hours touring the Vatican Museums and Sistine Chapel. We will list affected dates as they become available. When possible, your tour guide will notify you if St Peters Basilica is unexpectedly closed at the start of the tour. It is beyond our control, so no refunds or discounts will be issued

As an alternative, you will be offered an extended itinerary within the Vatican Museums, which still includes the Sistine Chapel and Raphael's Rooms. We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause. If you would prefer that St Peter's Basilica and Square are included, please DO NOT select Wednesday as your travel date

The breakfast was great. Apart from that we did not get to see any of the museum apart from a few corridors with tapestries of maps. The Sistine Chapel was just as crowded as usual so not sure how they say the crowd was less that early in the morning it wasn't. We then had to leave after the Sistine chapel as we could not go back into the museum and if we wanted to see the other parts of the attraction we had to line up outside for hours and pay again to get in! The guide was knowledgeable and her tour was good however we saw very, very little of anything in the museum. Very disappointing and I would not recommend this tour.It was also expensive.

If there we 100 star ranking even that wouldn't be enough stars! There are no words to describe how truly amazing our tour guide was! She not only had great knowledge on the history of the vatican but she was just so fun and even offered to take photos for us which was such a bonus! Our family who have visited the Vatican before and remember the huge crowds could not believe how we were the only people in these photos! My husband and I are devout Catholics so to have such an important visit go beyond any of our tour guide expectations was truly a blessing and we are so grateful. Highly recommend!

This was very special! I had done a tour 3 years ago and swore I’d never go again. It was crowded, hot, and the tour guide was impossible to hear or understand. I decided to try the breakfast this time and have no regrets. I think we were extra fortunate because the tour guide was SPECTACULAR! He is a professor at a university and does this because he enjoys it. His knowledge and insight was beyond my expectations. Being there before the crowds allowed us to actually see things and with this tour guy we understood what we were looking at. He was from the states, so we understood everything he said (another plus). I would do it again (and would love to choose my tour guide, because I’d choose him again). I highly recommend.

While the breakfast was nothing to salivate over, the tour was extremely informative and less crowded than other tours. The meeting place instructions were very confusing and due to the darkness many attendees were unsure where to meet. I had to walk up and down the long flight of stairs before having to walk up the same flight of stairs to begin the tour. Alessandra (Alex) was well versed in Vatican history and her demeanor warm and friendly.

This was an excellent tour and I am so glad we took this one. We decided an early morning tour before the crowds came was a good way to go and boy were we right. It was great to have the tour start before it became packed. Our guide was wonderful and the time flew quickly by. I would highly recommend this tour. It wasn't too big of a crowd and breakfast had something for everyone- and was very tasty too.

The guide was very informative and attentive. Professional! The breakfast was full option as described in the tour description.

Merrina was a great guide and I really like being able to get in early. My mind was over loaded with information. This is the time when I wished I could have downloaded a basic guide for the tour.

  • 24-Oct-2019

The VIP tour was fantastic. Our tour guide was very knowlegable and presented well! Excellent! The early morning hours were so worth it!

  • 21-Oct-2019

Great experience. Totally worth the time and money. Tour guide was very knowledgeable and friendly. We got to see many unique spaces in the Vatican Museum and breakfast in one of the gardens was simply amazing. Having this tour very early in the morning was very helpful to skip the large crowds of the day.

It was a wonderful experience. Our guide was quite knowledgeable on all the aspects of the Vatican Museum. I am glad we had an early access. Even with that it was still extremely crowded.
