Know More about this tour

Meet your guide near Campo de la Maddalena, a small Venetian square that’s remained almost unchanged since medieval times. Admire the houses with pretty chimneys that throng the square, and then start your walking tour with a visit to a historical bar – formerly an old charcoal store – that specializes in cicchetti.
Different to the typical pasta and pizza cuisine that so many associate with Italian food, true Venetian gastronomy takes its influences from the coast and the plains that surround the city. The carb of choice is polenta – yellow cornmeal served grilled or wet – and seafood is an almost permanent fixture in many meals.
Chat with your guide about Venice and its food while snacking on small plates of juicy plump olives and marinated seafood served on wedges of creamy polenta. Then, continue your stroll to Strada Nuova, a busy street in the neighborhood of Cannaregio, to visit an 18th-century bar famous for its plates of polpette (spicy fried meatballs). Sample some of its popular varieties, and then hop aboard a Traghetti (Traghetto) for a quick ride along the canals.
Cross the Grand Canal, Venice’s major water-traffic corridor, and cruise into the Rialto area, stopping at Rialto Market for a glimpse of local life. Many Venetians buy their produce here, and the market’s bustling stalls are filled with fresh seafood, as well as vegetables and fruit.
Browse the wares, and then stroll to a bar in the center of Venice for more wine and cicchetti, sampling regional wines and sparkling prosecco. Continue to a couple of nearby bars to try their specialties, and then finish your tour on the steps of Rialto Bridge – an iconic Venice attraction.

  • Oh my, what an experience! We did this on our last day in Venice, perhaps should have done it on the first day instead. Clare was the most enthusiastic and engaging person we've come across in a long time. Right from the start she had the eight of us get to now each other. She ensured we had a nice group dynamic going.

We ended up at four or five places, or it could have four places with five wines tried, hard to keep straight at this point. Each place as unique and had very interesting stories. The range was from a modern place located right across from the fish market, to a bar that has been in existence since the 15th century. The wines were great, the pours generous, and the cicchetti terrific.

    A must do.

  • Loved this tour. Great way to start a visit to Venice. We enjoyed the small out of the way restaurants and delightful food and wine tasted. Our tour guide was awesome and very knowledgeable. Would highly recommend this tour. We met the nicest people and enjoyed talking with them. Newlyweds, hardworking business people, retirees, we all enjoyed each others company as the night went on.

  • Best part of our trip and Beatrice and our fellow wine tasters were a great bunch to spend an evening with. Learnt and saw a lot of Venice and particularly useful on our first evening as gave us the confidence to return to the bars and happily order wine and cicchetti during the rest of our trip. Beatrice was the best tour guide I have ever come across - she made the tour really informative and fun. Highly recommend.

  • Great way to begin my Venice vacation, Claire is a great knowledgeable guide would definitely recommend this

  • A visit to several Cicchetti bars in the Rialto area as well as a lot of information about Venice and its history. Valentina was a delight as our guide. We went on the midday tour. Food and wine were wonderful and I revisited a couple of the bars later. Would recommend this tour to all foodies.

  • For a city where wine is cheaper than water, I would highly recommend taking this tour to get the full experience of all Venice has to offer. It included a brief tour describing how to get around the area like a local, followed by some of the best wine I have ever had. The food was lovely, but I wish there was a bit more variety. Also, I was traveling by myself and this tour was a great way to meet different people from all over the world. I would highly recommend

  • The food and wine tour was a fabulous introduction to our opening start of Venice. We were able to get a good overview and visited some wonderful Wine bars for our tour. Highly recommend!

  • A great tour. We are wine and food foodies, trust me this tour is well worth the time and money. You'll never forget it. We met some really nice people from all over the world in our tour group. You can't go wrong with this experience. We are actually headed to Barcelona at the end of the month and can't wait to do a tapas and wine tasting there. I'm sure it will be just as wonderful of an experience.

  • What fun! We loved our guide, loved the unique places we visited and loved the people we met.

  • This was just great!! Wandered around the small alleys away from Touristville and ate and drank some beautiful products. The guide was passionate about her task and made sure everyone was served and happy. Top notch
