Know More about this tour

The gondola is one of the main symbols of Venice, as emblematic of the famous water city as mysterious in its origins. Not many people know that at the beginning this unique vessel was different from the one we can admire today, changing across time together with the city it is associated to. Of course, the history of the gondola is deeply bounded to the one of Venice.

Considered one of the most beautiful and elegant boats on Earth, it is built through unique techniques and that each part of it also has symbolic meanings. For example, its multi-pronged ferro, or prow, does have five or six “pettini”, symbolic of the six “sestieri” in which Venice is divided into. The function of this part made of iron is to balance gondoliere’s weigh and it has an “S” shape evoking the flow of the Canal Grande.
Not only elegance and beauty then, a whole world embodied into this boat nowadays symbol of Venice.

Let yourself experience this gondola tour.

An enchanting and relaxing way to enjoy the colors, lights, sights, charm and beauty of Venice. We will admire elegant bank-side palaces, unique bridges and breath the charming and magic atmosphere that only a town built on water can give you.
Board assistance will be provided, no commentary included during the ride. We will take a place on the Gondola ( max 6 people per Gondola, shared one ) and let the local gondolier, with his distinctive blue and white striped shirt, bring us along the hidden channels of Venice.

  • This tour is okay, but really really touristy. I was with a group of 6 in the gondola which in itself isn't a problem, but that was after being with a group of 50 or so people who all walked to the gondolas together. It felt like getting on a slow moving ride at an amusement park. The gondolas let people off and then load the next people waiting in line. If you are going to spend the money on a Gondola ride I would recommend trying to find something more personal.

  • This tour was amazing!

  • A gondola ride is a must while in Venice and Viator had the best prices.

  • A great way to experience the Gondola!

  • The meeting point was not too specific. The point person should be there earlier and hold a sign that is more visible.

  • We really enjoyed the gondola ride, but beware when you meet the rep. There's a gondola station just down from the Post Office, and we thought it would be from there as the details said near the Post Office. We eventually found out that you leave from outside the Post Office, and then have a little walk to the gondolas. So please, Viator, change the location from near the Post Office tooutside the Post Office. Apart from that, we had a really lovely ride, and it was so quiet! Wonderful!

  • We had a 3pm booking and waited at the designated point with quite a few others, the operator arrived on time and took us to the gondolas, a lot of waiting around while they got themselves organised. on out turn we asked if we could wait and go on one where we could sit together at the back of gondola which they were happy to do. once on the gondola, it was nice and peaceful and the rower was experienced, one thing missing, perhaps just a recording of some relaxing Italian music would have given it more stars not being serenaded as costs more the only other thing was a gondola traffic jam half way through, but all in we are glad we did it, you can't go to Venice and not do a Gondola! Thanks Viator, we will use you again as we have before, easy to use and a trusted site.

  • Good experience for first time using Viator. I booked the trip an hour before I decided to go. The group was large when I arrived so it was easy to find the guy holding the Viator trip sign to follow the group. The 30 minute ride goes by fast. You have room for 6 people in the gondola, so it wasn't crammed. The only I thing I didn't like was the fact that they were like herding people into the boats really fast. It was a good way to check off a gondola ride on my checklist for a good price the ones they offer when you're there are 80 and 100 euros. Good overall.

  • The canal was very busy which was expected. The gondolier was worthless. He smoked and looked @ his phone the whole time. No commentary or singing.

  • Improvements needed: the meeting place was vague. The man in charge should hold up the tour sign to know you're in the right place. He did hold it up when it we time to walk to the gondola ride. The ride itself was fine, length could've been Longer and gone to other areas.
