Know More about this tour

Together with your guide, you'll walk to the RER train station to make the 30-minute trip by train to Versailles. Once in Versailles, you will pick up your bike at an office just 5 minutes from the Palace of Versailles. The first of many highlights on this active day out is a visit to Versailles' village market to buy baguettes, cheese, ham, wine and whatever else you desire for your delicious picnic lunch in Versailles' gardens. These picnic provisions need to be purchased at your own expense.

The next highlight on the tour is a bike ride through the gardens behind Versailles palace. You'll leave foot visitors behind on your tour of the palace by bicycle, as visitors on foot can visit only a small fraction of the palace gardens. Versailles' gardens and forests are crisscrossed by a network of fantastic trails and tree-lined paths, so bring your camera for picture-perfect views in every direction.

Arriving at the far end of the Grand Canal, you'll settle down for a picnic in the exact spot where Louis XIV, XV, and XVI ate in order to marvel at their palace. Relax on the grass in peace where only your cycling group will be able to easily reach.

After lunch, pedal back towards the palace itself for an unforgettable view into the lives of the French monarchy before their removal from power by the Revolution in 1789. You'll visit The hall of mirrors (site of the treaty ending World War I), the King's State Apartments and the amazing King's Chapel (audio guide available). After your visit to Versailles, you'll return to Paris via RER train.

Dave was a great guide! He told us where to go to find amazing food, and I appreciated that he gave us a good amount of history and lore, but didn't overwhelm us. The other people on the tour were friendly and pleasant. This is a great way to see the grounds of Versailles and really take it in.

First let me start with the most important - our tour guide was amazing! His name was Denis. He was very knowledgeable, great sense of humor, he went above and beyond making sure we all have a good time.
This is a whole day event. Be prepared to ride bike on/off for good 3-4 hours, leisure speed though. My wife and I enjoyed it very much, learning a lot about French history.
    Strongly recommend it!

The tour with Eddie was very informative and relaxing. We both enjoyed the easy going approach with Eddie and the itinerary and pace suited us perfectly. We have no problem with recommending this tour to other people.

Our guide, Johnny made our experience wonderful! He was extremely knowledgeable and memorized everyone’s name. It was an amazing experience! So glad we did it!

I feel like people who just see the Palace miss out on so much. On bikes, you can see so much more. The whole day is spread out so you’re not bombarded with facts and dates compacted into 3 hours - it’s combined with riding, eating wine and cheese, exploring and enjoying the gardens, enjoying the sun, with lots of interesting information (delivered hilariously by our guide Thomas) in between. We absolutely loved the entire day!

Richard was our guide and he did a great job making sure everyone in our group was accounted for. We had plenty of opportunities to stop for food and the bathroom. He gave us interesting details about the grounds. I wish he could have stayed with us throughout the castle as well. Don’t hesitate-just DO IT!

Great tour with train ride to and from Versailles. Stop to pick out lunch goodies in open market with lunch on grounds. Very knowledgeable guide Nick with history given throughout ride.

This was one of the most memorable experiences of our trip to France. We loved biking and walking through the tree-lined paths of Versailles. Our tour guide, Cian, was terrific. The day is rather strenuous, so I would recommend it for people who are able to walk and ride for several hours straight.

This was a fun and friendly tour of the Versailles grounds as well as the palace. Our guide, OJ, was great. He’s been doing this for a few years and knows how to get around. The picknick by the canal was fun and a great way to enjoy the grounds.

Absolutely the best way to see Versailles. Get to see the major buildings on the estate then the main palace when the lines are gone. Eddie is both fun and informative. Highly recommend.
