At your selected tour time, meet at the corner of Belleville Street and Menzies Street, across from the Parliament buildings, where you'll hop into your horse-drawn carriage and begin your leisurely ride.

Sit back, relax and enjoy the views as your experienced driver navigates through historic James Bay, one of the oldest residential neighborhoods on the West coast of North America. Here, you'll admire magnificent architecture of some of Victoria's oldest homes.

This is my favorite thing to do while visiting Victoria. It never disappoints! Fresh air, beautiful scenery, horses and fun stories to go along with it. Perfect.

Our horse was absolutely magnificent. Our driver Nicole was so informative. Fun to be with. Total control of the horse the whole time. It was a fabulous experience.

We are a BC family of four with two young children (4.5 and 3); we booked the 30-minute tour around James Bay and finished off in front of the Parliament buildings. Our rider was Hannah and the horse was Dutchie; lovely guide and lovely horse, respectively. Off the bat Hannah asked if we want the silent tour or the informative tour. Opted for the second one and learnt a lot from her descriptions of the neighbourhood and its history. I believe the 30-minute ride is appropriate for young children, anything longer might be too much for them. Pay attention to the young ones, especially when climbing up or getting off of the carriage, because it moves ever so slightly and they can potentially fall off (this is applicable to senior citizens too). Really liked the easy online booking process. Booked it very quickly near the visitors’ bureau, walked a few minutes to the stand, and Hannah and her supervisor were there to greet and welcome us. Just a suggestion for the future: How about adding in an option of paying with Apple Pay or Google Pay? Thank you for the wonderful tour!

We did the 30 minute tour. Pricing is per carriage not per person. Our driver was Hannah who gave us the option of narrating along the way or just asking questions if we felt like it. We asked for the narration. She was awesome! Entertaining, friendly and very knowledgeable regarding the history of James Bay and the area. Our horse was Tommy. A strong and beautiful creature who let us pet him and get pics. Knowing that the horses are well cared for is also a big deal. We brought our own blanket so we were warm and cozy. We both thoroughly enjoyed the experience and will definitely do it again. We loved ending the tour with the drive passed the parliament buildings all lit up. Suggestion - Enjoy the twilight time when the lights come on and the sun is setting. You’ll get a little bit of day and evening.

The guide was so informative and joyful. We learned more about Victoria's history than we ever did on foot.

Wonderful way to see the city and learn about its history! The driver was very knowledgeable and friendly.

We took the first ride of the day, at 11am. When the carriage arrived, the seats and floor were coated in wet horse manure. The tour guide told us it was there because they transport stuff in there that's got manure in it. Needless to say, we ended up with manure on our clothes and shoes, and the ride was extra stinky. A for the tour guide, D for cleanliness and related customer service. You may want to consider touring at a later time, or choosing another company, if cleanliness is a priority.

Had the pleasure of meeting Hannah and Utah Hannah is a very happy personal lady, very happy to have met her and find out the history of Carriage Tours. Utah is a beautiful white horse. He looks at you in the eyes with love and trust. Very impressed on our tour. I will most definitely recommend Carriage Tours to anyone I know visiting Victoria. Thankyou again for the wonderful tour 😁

My husband and 2.5 yo son went on a 30-minute ride and had a great time. Kaitlyn was well informed about the area and history of Victoria and Dutch was a perfect horse. Our son started to get antsy and Kaitlyn was so sweet to continue to keep him engaged. Great experience!
