Itinerary:

The program of the Vienna Mozart Concerts is characterized by a very accurate selection of the works. The artistic conception giving ground to the musical sequence of overtures, arias, duets, movements of symphonies and concerts offers powerful insight in the titanic works by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.

Performers
The Vienna Mozart Orchestra includes 30 musicians from the best Viennese orchestras; 2 opera singers (soprano and baritone) from the Vienna State Opera and Volksopera; and 1 soloist for piano, violin and flute.

Orchestra, conductor and singers perform in period costumes
Formerly the winter residence of the Habsburgs, the Hofburg has a unique situation among the great festive halls in Vienna. It was here that the Emperor entertained his guests. Modern technical systems, such as air-conditioning have been successfully integrated into this magnificent hall.

History of the Vienna Mozart Orchestra
The Vienna Mozart Orchestra was founded in 1986 by musicians from the best and most famous Viennese orchestras and from various chambers music ensembles. The artists all shared the aim of preserving the musical tradition and the cultural of Vienna by dedicating themselves to the cultivation and representation of symphonic chamber music of the Viennese Classical Period.

As the name Vienna Mozart Orchestra implies, the 30 musicians devote themselves exclusively to the works by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, the most accomplished representative of that period who, though born in Salzburg, found his home in Vienna. The orchestra's repertoire ranges from all of Mozart's symphonies to a great variety of his instrumental concertos (for violin, piano and wind) to arias and duets from his most famous operas.

  • For lovers of Mozart you will enjoy this as it a rather intimate setting. The room holds about 500 people, so almost anywhere you sit you can hear very well. The only down side is when seating, you sit directly behind the person in front of you. It would have been nice if the seats had been shifted in each row so you sat in between the two people in front of you. If a tall person sits directly in front of you, you will have a hard time seeing the performance.

  • A memorable event.

  • Excellent concert. All the favourites played well and in a beautiful setting. A tad expensive but it didn't disappoint.

  • This is a truly horrible rip-off tour - the Mozart concert at the Musicvarien is not for music lovers and people who know something about music. It is a cheap and nasty programme put together exclusively for foreign visitors. The venue is not suited for a classical music concert at all - the stage is just a small gap between two big pillars - the orchestra had barely 15 musicians - mainly violins and cellos - no room for other instruments - and the programme selected was a collection of 5 or so min from different popular pieces - rattled away at a rate of knots ! I have never before witnessed any thing as cheap and disgusting as this. I am used to attending the Proms at the Royal Albert Hall, London - an altogether different cup of tea ! No piece was performed in its entirety, the sound produced was very poor, the seating resembled that in an old warehouse studio ! even with a very impressive building front facade. I thought the lead violin who performed a solo was no better than a good high school violin student. So, this was just another one of those nasty tours put together for the unsuspecting tourist ! To cap it all off, we were forced to take off our jackets and pay for their storage, and had to pay 2.8 euros for half a bottle of mineral water ! Viator should be more discerning and drop such tours if it wants to maintain some reputation for standard and decency, or else state clearly that is a sub-standard programme not meant for serious music lovers.

  • Wonderful music in the most beautiful concert halls.
Of course, even if it was not in the program, the orchestra played for the grand finale the Radetzky Marsh.
    I highly recommend this concert.

  • Excellent

  • The music and setting were wonderful. I paid for the $50 ticket which was the lowest price. I expected a far away seat with no frills . But I did expect to be able to see the performance. On a bar stool sort of , against the wall and you had to the stand to see. I guess you get what you pay for

  • What a delightful night of music! Our seats were great and the venue was divine. Loved the period dress and the interaction between the orchestra and the audience was such fun! I would definitely repeat this outing. A treat.

  • Truly spectacular experience. Worth every penny. The dinner was wonderful. After dinner, a page meets you at the restaurant and escorts you to a carriage ride that lasts about 30 minutes. The concert was amazing. VIP get the best seats. At intermission, we got to go backstage and meet the conductor, soprano and baritone. After the concert, we received CDs and were escorted out. The page picks you up and drops you off everywhere. I hesitated about the cost. I'm glad that I did it!!!!
