Overview

Combine a visit to Schonbrunn zoo, which houses more than 4000 animals from each continent, with a ride on the world-famous Giant Ferris Wheel for a memorable day out in Vienna.

The Baroque Architecture of Schonebrunn Zoo dates back to the days of Empress Maria Theresia and her husband Franz Stephan von Lothringen. The breakfast pavilion is situated in the center and emulates the historical beginnings of the zoo. Even today you can still enjoy an "Imperial Breakfast".

The Giant Ferris Wheel, trademark of Austria's capital city and a symbol of Vienna's world-famous Prater, creates a very special point of reference for every visitor with its unmistakable silhouette, clearly visible even from great distances. Its unique views of the city of Vienna can be enjoyed by visitors throughout the day.

Know More about this tour

Apart from Berlin, The Schonbrunn zoo in Vienna is the only place in Europe where you can see Giant Pandas. The two Giant pandas, Yang Yang and Long Hui who arrived in the Schonbrunn zoo 2003, are on loan to the Republic of Austria by the People's Republic of China for a period of 10 years. According to the latest estimates, only one thousand Giant Pandas currently live in the wild.

Other top attraction include orangutans, jaguars, koalas, the first elephant born in Europe using artificial insemination techniques, Children's playground and petting zoo and a rainforest house modeled after the ecosystems of Borneo.

A circular trip on the Giant Ferris Wheel, one of the most significant and fascinating structures in the world, and the unique view of the city of Vienna, is an absolute cultural and architectural must for every visitor to Austria's capital.

Zoo very spaced out, not many animals to see. Ferris wheel not worth money nothing good to look at. Boring

Good one if someone wants some adventures on a trip..

I really liked the zoo. The ferris wheel wasn't very thrilling or exciting in any way. Thankfully the zoo made up for it.

Even though we visited the zoo in the winter we were still able to see all the animals close up and have taken some amazing photos. The zoo is easy to get to as the tube station is nearby and is just a short walk away. We spent 3 hours wandering round at our own leisure even finding time to stop and warm up in one of the many cafes for coffee and sachertorte.
A must do if you have children and a good trip even if you don't. Something for all ages to enjoy.
The giant ferris wheel is also a must as The views over Vienna are amazing and a definate for The photographers among you.
You start with a room which houses glass cases showing the history of the wheel , then it's photo time where you will, have some photos taken and can purchase if you wish when the ride is complete.
Time for the ride the carriages have approx 15 people in at a time and there is a bench to sit down on if that's the way you prefer the majority stand to experience the beautiful city and the amusement park below.
Well organised and definately worth the 10 euros per adult that is charged.

Wonderful visit to twoo of the landmarks of Vienna.

  • 30-Jul-2017

We enjoyed our visit to the zoo and seeing the pandas was a highlight of our trip for our daughter. This particular pairing of the Zoo and the Giant Ferris Wheel however, did not make much sense. We didn't realize it until we got to Vienna and planned out our time there that the Zoo is on the opposite side of the city than Prater and the Ferris Wheel. We had limited time in Vienna and knowing now, we would not have purchased this combination. The Ferris Wheel alone is not worth the trip but is a nice attraction if you are planning to go to Prater anyway.
