Know More about this tour

Conveniently located fifteen minutes away from Verona and twenty-five minutes away from Lake Garda, the estate is cloistered in a lush valley of fields and shaded woods, an island of green seemingly frozen in time and surrounded by verdant woods and sprawling vineyards. The program includes a fun, fully guided tour to the estate, the Romantic gardens, Amarone Classico and Valpolicella vineyards and the historical cellars, birthplace of Amarone.

Writings dating back to the 18th century, when the Villa hosted a literary salon, attest its unspoiled allure and splendor. The noble facade of neoclassical design, adorned with decorative statues of figures from Greek myths, stands framed against a backdrop of contrasting greens.

Inside, the magnificent Chamber of the Muses with its astonishing frescoes offer a remarkable example of the Italian artistic mastery. Another eleven rooms and halls, beautifully preserved, will allow you to experience first-hand the charm of an 18th century Italian architectural jewel.

The English-style landscape gardens, listed among the Great Italian Gardens for their historical and aesthetic value, weave a fairy-tale atmosphere and combine a rolling landscape, exotic plants , meandering paths and a pond, fed by natural springs.

A northern European style Kaffeehaus stand at the edge of the pond, facing a romantic island accessible through a wisteria-covered wooden bridge.

The experience then culminates with a visit to the cellars, which played a significant role in the history of Veronese winemaking. This famous winery is an example of wine-making expertise and enological innovation. Advanced cultivation and vinification techniques led to the introduction of the term “Amarone”, coined in 1936 within this very cellars in reference to a wine that had been produced since the early 1900s under the name “Recioto Secco”.

Today, in this same storied location, Gaetano Bertani and his sons continue the family’s three-century-old wine-making tradition.

The tour itself was lovely! The guide was fabulous and knowledgeable, the space is beautiful and unique. The instructions for how to get to the winery if you don't have a car were seriously lacking. If you plan to take the bus, make sure you tell the driver the village name because we spoke to multiple drivers who had never heard of the winery.
