Nijmegen is the oldest city in the Netherlands. It was founded by the romans in the 1st century BC. In 98 Nijmegen received Roman city rights and in 104 Emperor Trajan renamed the town, which now became known as Ulpia Noviomagus Batavorum, Noviomagus (Nijmegen) for short.

I'll show you around Roman Nijmegen in two hours walking. You will see historical remains such as roman roads, a floor heating system and building materials. We can also see the foundations of the amphitheatre and the sites of the roman camps. In addition, we can visit the Valkhof Museum, which houses the best collection of Roman antiquities in the Netherlands.

  • Entrance fee for the Valkhof Museum, when visited, food and drinks and personal expenses, transportation or other services, when required, are not included in the tourprice. I can prepare an all-inclusive tourprice on request.
  • Estimated Local Cash Needed: 20 Euro - This is a short walking tour, without a break. But it is your tour, so if you need a break for coffee or something else, please do! Please bring a little amount in cash (euros) for food and drinks or personal expenses. Most shops and restaurants accept credit cards.

  • If you cancel between 59 days To 180 days before scheduled tour departure, the cancellation charge will be 0%
