Overview
Come explore magical Inishbofin (Island of the White Cow) off the coast of Connemara along the Wild Atlantic Way. Inishbofin has become the first Irish island to receive an international ecotourism award.This self-guided package Includes a return ferry to Inishboffin Island from Cleggan.
Walk the short distance from the ferry to the hotel, and enjoy some delicious homemade soup and sandwiches while watching a short video about the island explaining the fascinating heritage, history and geology of the island in brief. Then go for an invigorating self-guided walk, with maps provided around the scenic Westquarter Loop. The island is a great place for bird watching and the corncrake can be heard here every year.
After your walk, return to the hotel for some freshly brewed tea/coffee and homemade scones before either boarding the ferry back to the mainland or staying on the island

We hadden een zonnige dag om naar het eiland te gaan! Alles was goed duidelijk aangegeven, zoals de parkeerplaats naast de pier, waar je voor 4 euro een dag kon parkeren. Aardige mensen van het schip en een heerlijk zeetochtje. Adembenemende uitzichten zoals in de verte de 12 bens en mooie baaien, strandjes en mogelijkheden ook om te kayaken. Wij liepen de heuvel op naar de fietsverhuur( 700 meter) en kwamen langs een prachtig kerkje. Fijne fietsen gehuurd waar de prijs van meeviel ( 15 euro per dag) en toen lekkere koffie en soep in het restaurant aan de baai genomen. Ik zag dat er in het hotel ook mooie plekken waren op het gras met picknick tafels en erg rustig. De huisjes komen wat sober en eenvoudig over op het eiland. We hadden uiteindelijk niet zoveel tijd over na de koffie . Het was goed te doen het fietsen, alleen soms even de helling op lopen. Prachtige uitzichten! Wauw. Bij de hoek zagen we een mooi strand waar we de fiets neer zetten en hebben gezwommen. Het was paradijselijk. Wel koud water maar even erin was te doen. En toen was het alweer tijd voor de terugtocht. Ik had nog wel meer willen fietsen, maar met de boottijden heb je die tijd niet, dus wellicht een andere keer eens overnachten daar. In de winkeltjes moest je cash betalen. Ook een kunstwinkeltje in een pipowagen nam alleen cash, dus dat is handig om bij je te hebben. Aanrader zijn de mooie ansichtkaarten. In Cleggan kon je leuk en lekker eten. Leuke sfeer daar in het dorp en mooi is de historie van Cleggan met foto's en info op de muur weer gegeven op de kade.
