Overview
Lace up your hiking shoes and embark on a walking tour of Sanguinho on this 6-hour guided tour from Ponta delgada. Walk the trail next to the Ribeira stream through the forest, admire the waterfall of Salto do Prego and take a dip in its crystal-clear pool before continuing to the historic village of Povoao. A picnic lunch is included.

As you walk along the trail, admire the waterfall of Salto do Prego, where you stop to bathe in the crystal-clear water and enjoy a picnic lunch. Head right at the second fork on the trail to go to the abandoned village of Sanguinho where you can see restored traditional buildings, including a small farm. Your next stop is in Povoao, which was the first settled village on the island of So Miguel.
Your tour ends with a drop-off back in Ponta Delgada.

Dani is an excellent guide. She can tell you about all the other islands and what to do on each island. They are all worth a visit. She looks after the group effortlessly. This is a challenging, technical hike. Steep slopes with wet cobble stones, you will need your poles to dig in. You don't need to be a strong hiker but you do need to be careful on the descents. You will see a pretty waterfall and an abandoned village. You will have to do the tour to find out why the village is abandoned.

Tres bon accueil de Diego qui est une personne vraiment interressante qui prend le temps de répondre à nos questions tel un expert natif de l île. Et superbe marche avec de jolis points de vue menant à une jolie cascade et des piscines naturelles ou l on peut se baigner ce que j ai fait naturellement. Je conseille fortement cette activité.

Amazing hike in the region of Faial da Terra! Our guide Diogo was very nice, funny, accommodating to our needs and he taught us a lot of facts avout the region. He even took pictures of the group and sent them to us after the activity! I highly recommend this trip (and our guide Diogo!). Amazing views, animals on the way, nice swim in the waterfall. Don't forget your bathing suit! Really enjoyed my day, thanks!! :)

We did the sanguinho tour with a fantastic guide called Thiago! My son of nine loved him. Some good climbs but as a reward you can swim right into the waterfall (very cold water). We also visited sanguinho, abandonned village. Thanks Thiago, you were ‘amazing’.
