Overview

Walking Tour to Sacsayhuaman Archeological Site. Archaeological Complex of Sacsayhuaman. The complex comprises 33 archaeological sites. The most well-known is Saqsayhuaman, it is presumed that its construction was of religious character, but by its location and style was considered by the Spaniards and cronistas like a military building. The area where this construction is located corresponds to the head of the sacred animal, and one of the translations that has this word is, precisely, puma head. Pachacutec Inca Yupanqui, the ninth Inca, redesigned the city and gave it the shape of a cougar lying down (the puma is the guardian of earthly things). The space covered by their constructions is particularly large; what is most striking is the three stone walls that suggest the figure of the fortress.

Itinerary.

Our team will meet you at your proper Hotel a time before of the departure time for the excursion and will give you a short orientation about the route and places of Photography.

07:30am the excursion starts with your Private tourism Guide going in direction to the North of Cusco. On the way we will be able to see part of Cusco City and the traditional Suburbs of the Inca / colonial times. At the proper time we will be able to see the following Stops / attractions:

08:00am San Cristobal Church and the Residence of Manco Capac.Known as the one of the look out of the Cusco City, It presents a simple Ushno / Platform from where you will be able to enjoy a session of Photography of Cusco City.09:00am Arqueological Site of Sacsayhuaman

The construction is typical of Inca architecture, although it is the place where this technique was used on a larger scale. The rock was roughly cut in the quarry with the approximate shape required. Then it was dragged with ropes by hundreds of men to the place of construction, where it was given the definitive carving. The ropes used were so impressive that they were mentioned by the Spanish conquistador Diego de Trujillo in 1571 after inspecting a room full of construction material.

The velvety softness of the stone stands out in these formations. There are figures designed on stones and rocks, entrances to underground tunnels or chicanes, amphitheaters, ritual constructions, probably related to the cult of water. This site played an important role in Inca ritual activities.

11:00am the White Christ over the City.

The work was executed by the local sculptor and filmmaker, Francisco Olazo Allende, among whose accomplishments are also the sculptures of the arch of Santa Clara that is located in the Plaza San Francisco of Cusco.

In a very handmade way, with local labor, the figure of Christ was taking shape and the plaster gave it its white color that shines against the Andean sky. The figure of the White Christ of Cusco was built in 1945, and donated by the Palestinian Arab colony to Cusco.

11:30am at this time we will be ready to take our walk back to Cusco.
