Know More about this tour

After youre picked up from your hotel, hop aboard a fully loaded Jeep for an exciting ride down the rugged roads outside Paraty! Youll drive with a local guide along a scenic route through the Atlantic Forest of Bocaino Mountains National Park (Serra da Bocaina). Among the beautiful flora youll find jequitib, one of the largest trees in the region, as well as Brazilian bamboo, bromeliads and more!

The first stop on your 6-hour tour is the Gold Trail Exposition, where you can learn about the history of Brazils famous export. This road, paved in steep areas with large stones, connected Paraty by mule train to some of the worlds richest gold mines until the 18th century.

Next, pass Toboga Falls where swimmers coast down a natural 60-foot (18-meter) rock slide into the water and Tarzan Falls, whose deep pools are accessible via a high-flying rope swing! When you reach the cachaa distillery called Engenho DOuro, discover how this popular Brazilian liquor is produced from sugarcane. Youll taste several varieties of delicious cachaa, which is distilled onsite and aged in wooden casks.

Then hop back in the Jeep for a short ride to a great local restaurant, Villa Verde. Enjoy specialty pastas and broiled dishes for lunch (own expense) while relaxing beside another beautiful waterfall. After your meal, take a refreshing dip to cool off in the pristine waters.

At the Murycana Farm, another cachaa distillery, youll get a glimpse into farm life through a short tour. Your final stop is the Bromeliad Exhibition, where more than 300 species of beautiful plants are on display an excellent photo op! Complete your tour by driving back to Paraty with drop-off at your hotel.

It was amazing !! Our guide was really passionate and pleasant and helpful and try his best in English to explain us all the places. They try to make us live the best experience we could have !

Our guide, Louis, was brilliant and so were the drivers. They were so helpful and nothing was too much trouble. The group’s safety if people chose to swim at the waterfalls was clearly their highest priority. Really enjoyable day. The staff at Paraty tours (who run the jeep safari) were also great. I lost something valuable whilst at the distillery, the distillery called the office to tell them they’d found it before I’d even noticed I’d lost it. When I got back to the office, the staff arranged for a driver to go pick it up for me. Overall fantastic service. Only downside was 2 hour break for lunch. Tour would’ve been better as 4 hours without the late lunch stop instead of 6 hours

Even tough the guide was very nice the tour was really boring. The jungle tour turned out to be a 5 min walk to a waterfall (which where counted as two) and back to the jeep. The highlight were some stones under a waterfall which you where able to slide down (called tarzan). The rest was filled with a visit to a "chosen" Restaurant and the "ability" to taste and also buy cachaca (two stops at two different distilleries). With a tour to the first distillery which took 15!! min.

The tour started good when Ivan, a really funny and friendly guy picked us up with his Landrover. In the City of Paraty we met the other cars full of tourists. Our guide Lea explained the route and then we started. First stop was an waterfall with a little bathing possibility. That's were we saw what I wrote in the title, a lot of people are brought here to swim for 30 minutes and then back to the road, we had such a good time in Rio, with many tours, but that was really too much. Next stop was the cachaca destillery where Lea explained how the national drink is made - she does a great job, so nice and helpful. We told her that we want to leave because there are too many people for swimming (2 more waterfalls ahead)! She was very sorry and very friendly! Finally Ivan was so kind to bring us back to our Pousada! All in all great guides, a great driver but many many tourists carted to a small swimming place...

This tour is fantastic, I have been on a lot of similar tours throughout Asia and this was by far the best. The tour guide was fantastic...fun, knowledgeable and was able to translate everything into English for us. We visited 2 x waterfalls both of which were indescribably beautiful and had loads of pools to swim in plus a natural rock slide!! The cachaca distillery visit was also an interesting stop off to learn more about local culture. This is a must for anyone visiting Paraty!
