Know More about this tour

Meet your guide in Dublins Heuston Station in early morning and set off on a scenic rail journey to Kilkenny. Often hailed as the most attractive city in Ireland, Kilkenny is famous for its postcard-perfect medieval looks and its historical cathedrals, abbeys and castles.

Stroll around the cobbled streets and get an overview of the citys history and top sights. Afterward, you'll enjoy free time, during which you might choose to pop into the renowned Kilkenny Design Centre, which stocks Irish fashion and handcrafts, or pay an entrance fee to visit Kilkenny Castle, a restored 12th-century castle that sits on the banks of the River Nore. Should you feel hungry, recharge with some refreshments (own expense) at a local cafe.
Next, leave Kilkenny by train and arrive in the waterfront city of Waterford, one of Irelands oldest settlements. Youll enjoy free time to wander through the medieval narrow alleys and the busy port, or to grab a quick lunch at a local restaurant (own expense).
Then, meet your guide at the Waterford Crystal factory in the heart of the city. This renowned crystal producer, which has been operating for more than 200 years, has made many coveted and famous objects, including the Times Square New Years Eve Ball in New York City. Let a guide take you through the factory, where youll gain insight into the process of crystal making, from the art of crystal blowing through to cutting and engraving.
In late afternoon, leave Waterford by train and enjoy a scenic journey through the Suir Valley in County Tipperary. From the window, look out upon farmland, mountains and rivers. Change trains at Limerick for an express journey back to Dublin, where your tour finishes.

  • Kilkenny is amazing, pity we didn't get more time to spend in this splendid medieval city. Our tour guide, Paddy, was very knowledgeable and a true people's person - ever so nice!

  • From the time we met our guide Paddy at the Heuston train station early on the morning of our trip, until we returned that evening.
We felt we were in good hands. Beautiful scenery and interesting places to visit. Paddy was both witty and informative.
    Great Day!

  • The rail tip is a great way to go!

  • We had an amazing trip to Waterford with Paddy as our guide. He was knowledgeable, so informative and we felt like we were in good hands the entire time. He even helped us flag a cab down at the end of the trip we had been standing in the wrong place!. The Waterford factory is amazing! The train was clean and fast and gave us a chance to see the beautiful countryside. Recommend it for sure!

  • Paddy was a great guide - we had awful weather but he got taxis several spots and tried his best to keep us dry
Tour cost should include admission to Kilkenny castle

  • This was a wonderful trip! Our guide, Brian, was both knowledgeable and personable. Our group was relatively small for this tour and we all ended up being friends. That means everyone - tourists and the guide. We exchanged stories and photos of families.
Brian went way beyond the normal guide information. He was giving backgrounds to all of the places we visited and he prepared us for them so we would be able to absorb everything upon arrival.
I highly recommend this tour especially if you are fortunate enough to get the same guide.

  • We had a great day and the weather was excellent. The train trip was fun but be aware there's a lot of walking. Plenty of time to shop at the Waterford Gallery. Our train to Limerick cancelled so we took a bus through small towns which was interesting and then a train to Dublin. Very smooth operation and I recommend the tour company to you. There were eleven in our tour which was just right. Some days there are over 30. Long day but worth it.

  • Tour was just ok. Guide Liam was a little too slow for my preferred pace. Kilkenny was lovely, lunch was good and Waterford just ok.

  • Great guid loved the train trip and Waterford

  • Enjoyed the rail trip to Kilkenny and Waterford. Recommend to anyone who wishes to see the countryside of Ireland.
