Overview

West Seattle is the spit of land you can see when gazing west from downtown Seattle and Pike place market. Its hard to imagine, but west Seattle has beaches and lovely little shops along the waterfront with views of Bainbridge Island and the Olympic Mountains. Home to the best record store in the city where Pearl Jam once played and one of the last stands of old growth trees in Seattle, West Seattle is a world unto itself. The city skyline view is iconic from "the west side", perfect for photos to make your friends back home wish they were with us! These are the places I bring my friends and family when they visit. With a max of 3 people, this is a very personal "best of Seattle" tour that explores a part of the city that most visitors never see. Come explore with a 30 year local!

Know More about this tour

The heart of West Seattle's urban side, we will visit fantastic local shops, stop for coffee and cupcakes, then visit the best record store in the city where Pearl Jam once played (some members still live in West Seattle!).
We will visit a fantastic driftwood-strewn beach and learn about wildlife.
This park is relatively unknown even to many residents, and holds one of only 2 stands of old growth trees left in Seattle. It's stunning! The trail is a little primitive, and often muddy, but worth the short trek to see giant mossy trees!
This fun beach is full of interesting people watching, snacks, beverage choices and incredible views of Bainbridge Island and the Olympic Mountains! On the way back to downtown, we will have the most iconic views of the skyline, perfect photo opportunities all through this tour!

The best tour of our trip because of Lynn. She texted her pic before the tour so we started out with comfort. She asked about us to customize our experience. It was the perfect start because I really wanted to see grunge-related places and she was excited to exceed my expectations. Lynn is super smart and shared knowledge that was relevant and interesting. I loved every stop including the quick stops for fantastic pics. Easy Street Records was a must-do and she pointed out so many more cool things that I would have missed. She allowed time for my purchases and for an ice cream. We had a yummy snack at Lincoln Park and we ended the day strolling in Alki Beach. Highly recommend Lynn and this tour.

When I initially met up with owner/guide Lynn Curtis, I didn't know what to expect, but man, did I get the best shock ever. We met at a local coffee shop and I was able to sample some of Seattle's best kept secret. Starbucks isn't the only good coffee. My cappuccino with a shot a hazelnut was not over frothy, but perfect, smooth and delicious. After a few minutes of chit-chat, Lynn took me on a worldwide tour of West Seattle. I learned so much and her time and attention to detail is the absolute best. Lynn is passionate about Seattle and it comes through again and again with each tidbit of information she shares with you. When I told her that I am looking to possibly move to Seattle in a few years, she offered a ton of suggestions and I knew that I had to return, just to sign up for more of her tours. And just when I thought it was over, she took me to this fabulous Seattle based chocolatier, where all of my will power went out the window and I loaded up on the good stuff. After a day with Lynn, you will come to truly love and embrace the city of Seattle. Hopping on a bus with other strangers is not a bad idea. I did it, however, if you want an up close and personal, intimate touch, then I strongly encourage you to check out Lynn Curtis. I know that I will reach out to her again!!!!

If you want something totally unique and offers a real understanding of Seattle, its people and all the funkiness that makes this city so cool ~ take this tour! Lynn is knowledgeable, funny and knows the best off beat places around town. Had a great time learning about West Seattle, Alki Beach and Georgetown. Met many local merchants and biz owners, sampled great food and avoided the tourist traps. You will NOT be disappointed in your tour. Plan on returning to Seattle again and will schedule another tour with Seattle Under the Radar Tours.
