Know More about this tour

After hotel pickup in southern Tenerife, your 3-hour tour begins as you board your yacht and sail or motor away from the port to the area where pilot whales are usually seen.

On the way, keep a lookout for dolphins, as well, who like to swim around the boat. After about half an hour of navigating, you should spot whale mothers and babies, with daddy whales keeping an eye on what's going on.

Enjoy provided drinks and fresh sandwiches on board, and listen to information about the marine life from your captain. After viewing the whales, head to a secluded bay where you'll drop anchor so you can swim off the back of the yacht. Use the provided snorkeling gear to look for turtles, if you wish. More sandwiches and drinks will be served before pulling up the anchor and sailing back to the marina.

  • I was really looking forward to this trip as it was a surprise for my partner for his birthday. We also invited two of our english friends to join us. To say i was disappointed was an understatement. Firstly, when I booked the tour, it stated that there would be unlimited drinks and fresh sandwiches on board, information about the marine life from your captain, viewing the whales, head to a secluded bay where you'll drop anchor so you can swim off the back of the yacht. Use of the provided snorkeling gear to look for turtles. More sandwiches and drinks will be served before pulling up the anchor and sailing back to the marina. We saw 7 whales and no dolphins, that was fine as it was nature. Secondly, the anchor was dropped but miles away from the bay, we were not offered snorkeling gear. The sea looked very black were we were anchored. There was not unlimited drinks and food aboard as stated on this website. We got two small cans of cheap beer each and a rock hard baguette with rubber ham and awful cheese. When asked the captain on board if there was any more available, he shouted up to us NO. We were very embarrassed, especially as I had informed them that it was my partner's birthday and we had guests on board too. When we arrived back, we told the lady who had picked us up from the hotel what had happened and she basically said that it was his first day and she would talk to him. An excuse. Once they got paid, they didnt care.
When talking to different people back at the hotel, they booked this trip down the town for 40 as opposed to the 55 each we paid. They had as much cava, wine, beer and snacks as they wanted and they were offered snorkling gear.
I wont be booking with Viator anymore and will do it locally on holidays.

  • It was a pleasant trip. Pick up and drop off went smoothly. We didn't find dolphins or turtles, but us was impressive to see the baby pilot whales having their day. I personally would have liked some info about the things we saw. Afterall, the sail to the whales and back was long enough to allow it.

  • The trip was well arranged and well hosted. The captain was a great entertainer, and we got to see a family of pilot whales! I docked a star only because apparently the turtles has been impossible for years (without the ad on here being updated) and because we couldn't eat the lunch on offer (ham)

  • My partner and I went to Tenerife and wanted to do a snorkeling/kayaking or boating experience while we were there. We were SO happy with our choice in Tenerife Sailing Charter's. We were picked up from our Airbnb, and taken to the location. Everything went so smoothly. We saw SO many dolphins while we were out there and enjoyed the champagne and beer! The weather was absolutely perfect and the views are gorgeous out there. The snorkeling goes very fast but we had so much fun ! Thanks Paul and team!

  • Very enjoyable trip. Saw bottle-nose dolphins and short finned whales. Stop for snorkelling was rather rushed but otherwise an interesting and successful trip.

  • My wife, son who is almost 6 months old and I were on vacation in Tenerife and wanted to do some whale watching. This area of the world is known for its whale watching as dozens of species of whales and dolphins migrate through the Canary Islands every year. I did a little research and came across Tenerife Sailing Charter. My wife has never been sailing and I wanted her to have that experience as well.

I tried to book on their website, but had a little trouble scheduling directly on the site. I came across this listing on Viator and the pictures looked exactly the same it didn't say directly that it was Tenerife Sailing Charter until after I booked which was annoying, but I felt confident it was the same company. It was nice on to book on Viator as well, because I could book and pay in dollars rather than Euros and the upcharge Viator/Trip Advisor's cut wasnt too much to make me balk.

The company provides transport to the port from your hotel, and when I called the owner Paul to ask about it, he said that they could come pick us up even though we were staying a over 20 kms away. I later received an email from the company that we were too far to pick up so if we could drive ourselves that would be best. We had rented a car for our week vacation, so I was planning on doing it anyway. We had an infant son so it was just easier with his car seat.

We were running late and Paul called me directly to make sure we were still coming. We were cutting it close to our 10am departure time and were actually a little late but the boat waited for us. Im sure it was a little annoying for the other patrons, but I really appreciated it as traveling with an infant can take time. This was good customer service and communication, and the company gets 5 stars solely for this reason there are other reasons, but I would have given 5 stars just for this

On our way out of the harbor, our captain Captain Jose told us we couldnt sail because there wasnt enough wind. This is not the company's fault as you need wind to sail. He also told us the trade off for this is that when there is no wind, the seas are much calmer and the whales are more likely to be resting at the surface he was right. We saw a lot. He was a very lovely man and was a good guide. He told us where we were going and what we were looking for. The only thing that made me worry a bit was that there was no safety briefing anywhere on the trip where are the life vests? Was there a life vest for my infant son? Maybe we did this before we got there. I didnt bother to ask either so the blame also falls on me.

We went a few kilometers and saw a lot of pilot whales. This is the main sighting in Tenerife. They are beautiful creatures and my family loved seeing them. We didnt see any dolphins or turtles, but thats ok. There was champagne and fruit and crackers available if we were hungry. It was a nice touch. After the whale watching portion was over, we motored over to a cove and went swimming. My wife and I were the only ones who went swimming and the captain gave us snorkeling gear and was overall just a lovely human being to have around. He provided some sodas, more champagne, beer, and sandwiches which was quite tasty. He told us about his daughter who lives in England and told us that he wanted to visit New York where I live. He played with our son and made him honorary first mate. We told him we would love to show him around should he ever came. After swimming for 30 minutes or so, we motored back to port to end our three hour tour cue Gilligan's Island theme. We drove back to our hotel with a lovely memory from our trip.

  • This trip is a wonderful experience. Our host, Jose, was knowledgeable and funny, the sea wasn't too choppy, and we were fortunate and blessed to come across a family of female pilot whales with their young swimming alongside them. It was a day that I will never forget, and I would recommend this excursion highly.
