Overview

Enjoy two must-do Icelandic activities in one convenient day trip from Reykjavik. After a morning Whale watching cruise around Faxafli Bay, head out on a Golden Circle sightseeing tour to see the classic sites that make up the famous route. Stop to explore Thingvellir National Park, Geysir hot springs, Gullfoss waterfall and the village of Hverageri, and listen to commentary about each site from a knowledgeable guide.

Know More about this tour

Start your day with a pickup from your city hotel, and travel to Reykjavik Old Harbour to board your Whale watching boat. Cruise out into Faxafli Bay, away from the shoreline, and look out for the whales and seabirds for which Iceland is famous. The bay is one of the best places to see Icelands marine life, and minke whales, white-beaked dolphins and harbor porpoises are just a few of the creatures you may be lucky enough to see.

After roughly three hours, return to shore and swap your mode of transport to a coach for your afternoon Golden Circle tour. Listen as your guide talks about the route that loops into the heart of Iceland, and learn about the historical sights and natural phenomena ahead of you.

Your first stop is Thingvellir National Park, the area where Icelands first parliament was formed back in the first century. Take a walk around and gaze out over the rugged terrain as your guide gives the lowdown on the sites history.

From Thingvellir, continue to the waterfall of Gullfoss, known for its double cascades, and enjoy the spray of glacial water on your face as you stroll around the falls. Visit the bubbling Geysir hot springs, a geothermic marvel, and then stretch your legs on a visit to the village of Hverageri, known for its large quantity of hot springs and geothermal park.

Relax on the journey back to Reykjavik and finish with a drop-off at your hotel.

We had a great trip on both tours. We started off with the Whale Watching tour which was super cold but worth it! We unfortunately only got to see one whale on this occasion but it was still great to see. The golden circle tour was fab! Such beautiful places to see! Our tour guide was very informative and shared a ton of information about the island and the places we were visiting. I only have pictures of us on the whale watching tour handy at the moment so can't share the other pics but it was truly worth it. Tip: Wrap up well as you will be frozen!

I brought my father to Iceland for Father’s Day. We couldn’t be happier with the company! We were able to watch a beautiful humpback, saw almost every sea bird Iceland has to offer and so much more. Our tour guides were so friendly and I enjoyed visiting with each of them. Couldn’t recommend more!

Very professionel guides who could give a lot of background information. We spotted lots of whales and had a great trip on the sea.

We just recently bought a tour with Elding company, though its a very good company to go with on Whale watching tour. Of course no whales to be seen on the overpriced boat tour. I do understand this is not guaranteed by nature and not really complaining about it. However we have also purchased a Golden circle tour combo with whale watching. The whale watching its self was around 10000 isk the combo was charged 25000 isk pp as we though it is money saving. Later we have reliased that The Golden circle is operated by different company called Gray line. That actually charges for golden circle only at around 8000 isk. We did the maths and it was our fault we didn't do the homework properly. We have unnecessary paid 7000 isk pp extra by booking it directly with Elding. However, What we really don't understand is that on the receipt, we are just looking on is showing only 40000 isk instead of 50000 isk we have paid in the store? We feel ripped off and scammed by this company now. Our Receipt should definitely show, the same price we have directly paid for the tour. Rip off and scammed.

It was rainy and cold, so we held up in the boat's cafeteria and relaxed. There weren't any whales (that's nature), but it was far from a negative experience. If we had to stand on the deck in the rain for three hours it would be a different story. Our guide, a lady from Kent, educated us while we waited for whales to appear. We also got free tickets to return that are good for 2 years. We were lucky with the Golden Circle tour. While it was raining in Reykjavik, it was the first snow for the Golden Circle, turning all of our stops into a freshly powdered winter wonderland. The views at the National Park could be used on Christmas cards. It was gorgeous.

We had the best guide ever the tour was fun and funny our guide was very helpful not regarding the tour only but also what to do in Iceland where to eat where to shop I’m sorry I forgot his name but his name started with a D and he was American. I strongly recommend taking a tour with the grey line tours with the same Guide as a first thing to do it can help you for the rest of your trip. For the whale watching we didn’t see any whales just some shy dolphins and it was raining so when you chose to go whale watching don’t expect so much.

We had a great experience whale watching, we saw 3 humpback whales, and was the highlight of my trip to Iceland. The boat was good, toilet facilities and cafe onboard. Dry suits available and kept us warm, these were essential as it was a very cold trip! The tour guide was great and knew so much. I would definitely recommend and would definitely do again when I go back to Iceland.
