Know More about this tour

The beautiful coastal drive from Dublin to Glendalough takes you past Dun laoghaire Harbor, Dalkey and Killiney. These exclusive suburbs on the out reaches of Dublin are home to Ireland's rich and famous including U2's Bono, Enya and film director Neil Jordan. Then, driving through the Wicklow mountains, you'll soon understand why this area is known as 'the Garden of Ireland.

You'll continue on to the green mountains of Wicklow County, where you'll stop for morning tea (additional cost) at Avoca Handweavers. The oldest wool mill in Ireland, Avoca Handweavers is a great place to shop for high-quality Irish crafts.

The next stop on your Wicklow tour in Glendalough, in Wicklow mountains national park. Glendalough is renowned for its natural beauty and history, and is one of the most visited places in Ireland.

At Glendalough, your guide will walk with you through the 6th-century monastic settlement. You'll learn about St Kevin, the founder of the ancient monastery, and hear stories relating to the ruins scattered about the site, including the famous Round Tower. There will also be time for a leisurely stroll through the woods to Upper lake.

Leaving the peace and serenity of Glendalough behind, you'll head off for a stop at a local pub for lunch (additional cost). Enjoy the relaxed atmosphere and good old-fashioned home cooking of a traditional Irish pub. Why not wash lunch down with a hearty pint of Guinness?

After lunch you'll begin your return to Dublin, via Sally's Gap, where scenes from Braveheart were filmed in 1995. This scenic but desolate area of wild bogland offers a stunning contrast to the Wicklow mountains.

You'll arrive back in Dublin in the late afternoon, with drop-off either in Ballsbridge (D4) or at Trinity college.

Great day out of Dublin seeing some spectacular sights. Best part was that the tour guide , John, was informative and charismatic throughout the day. Made it a very enjoyable day even with the rain.

I had the best experience being on this day tour. I had the pleasure of having John as my tour guide. He was so great! It’s was the best day in my vacation in Ireland. And such a beautiful landscape we got to see. And I loved that John was playing irish music in the bus, while singing along! Everybody needs to go on this amazing trip!

Beautiful but it was too much time on the bus and not enough time walking in the bog area. Loved the monastery and walk along the lake

Are guide John was very much wanting to share his beautiful Country with everyone on his Bus. He very much enjoyed his job. We lucked out and had a beautiful sunny day!

Great driver (John). Completely nuts, but my kinda nuts. Great stories and a real joy. Glendalough was really good, scenery stops were excellent and the scenery along the way stunning. Two stops on the way - 1st was 15 mins at a small beach, no coffee places and not enough time to see the Martello tower, also too early for a comfort break. Second break stop, ideal for a comfort/coffee stop, but 30 mins at a shopping / craft area was to long. switched to 30 at 1st and 15 at second would be better. All in all a great trip though, made even better by John. Recommended.

Denis thank you for making this trip one to remember!

We (two adults + 2 kids) had a wonderful time on the tour. Our driver/guide, whose name I have forgotten, was knowledgeable and friendly, and the amount of driving and stops was perfect. Loved the café and Glendalough monastery.

John was a fun and lively guide/driver on this leisurely excursion out of Dublin. He began his commentary immediately after we boarded, pointing out key sights in Dublin and providing a bit of color about them. As we headed south, he included a bit of Irish music to keep us entertained. The mountains were beautiful and we had plenty of stops. I would recommend this tour to anyone who likes to see the beautiful landscapes outside the big city.
