Would have loved to give an accurate review but what a terrible experience. Didn't even go on the trip. Julia Travels group gave zero notification that the tour was cancelled. We arrived ready to go and was informed it was cancelled for the week. Was told to come back the next morning for a similar the tour but one that included Montserrat. Same thing happened again! We had to change our day to day itineraries. We had planned to go to Madrid but couldn't because of the lack of communication and inconvenience. They offered for us to do another tour in place -- Costa Brava and Dali. The tour had potential but our guides English guide missed the marked. She hardly spoke and shared information with us. It was boring. The better part was the museum. Honestly wish we would've jumped through the hoops for a refund. The bus nearly froze us to death.

This was an outstanding trip that I highly recommend. The bus used by the company was big and comfortable, something very important for long trips. The guide was excellent as well, plus arrangements were made for guides from within each winery. It was very informative and educational as well. It was not just tasting wine but learning how to taste and rate wine/cava.

My husband and I love to visit wineries when we travel, and our favorite visits are always at small, family wineries where you get to meet the winemaker and taste wines that we can't find at home in an intimate environment. This is not that kind of tour. You'll be on a large bus with 30-40 other tourists and you'll visit large scale, commercial wineries with international distribution. One of the other frustrations was that there was no lunch break. I knew that lunch wasn't included, but assumed that meant that we'd stop somewhere and have time to buy our own lunch, but that wasn't the case. The only food available during the ~8 hour day were the meager nibbles at the wineries (crackers and olives at Jean Leon, four small pieces of cheese and a few crackers at Torres, and some pan con tomate, chips, and a small shared charcuterie plate at Freixenet). I'm really glad we had a decent breakfast at our hotel before we left, but we were downright FAMISHED by the time the tour was over. This is a good tour for those who are wine novices, but if you're an experienced enotourist, you may be happier with a different tour.I did very much enjoy the opportunity to taste the grapes of lots of different varietals at Jean Leon and Torres, but I wished more of the wines we tasted had been uniquely Spanish. At Jean Leon, there was one taste of a "reserva" cab, and I paid extra for a second taste of a "gran reserva" cab. At Torres, we tasted a Moscatel/Gew├╝rtztraminer, a merlot, a cab, and a muscatel. My husband and I paid extra to taste a brandy, but we were rushed and didn't really get to enjoy it. At Freixenet, we tasted a (white) cava and a rose cava, and I paid extra to get a glass of a different rose cava. Ultimately, we enjoyed the day, but wish we would have picked a different (smaller) tour that gave us the opportunity to taste varietals that are unique to Spain and the Penedes region.

This was a fabulous day trip. The tours of each winery were so organized and informative. They each were very interesting, beautiful, and made delightful wines. We had a great day on this tour and enjoyed every minute!

I have to say that we were a little concerned when we left in the morning because the bus was absolutely packed (I believe that the final tally was 55 people!).. However, the size of the group did not hinder the information transfer or fun. The Jean Leon tour was good but the winery was smaller and a little less organized. The facilities, the tours and the tastings at Torres and Freixenet were really spectacular! These are can't miss! My group was very pleased with the whole experience.

This was a very nice and informative tour to the 3 different wineries from the small batch winery to the large scale production at Freixenet. It was a larger group tour than we expected 20 but the bus ride from Barcelona was very comfortable and we never felt the group was too big. The tour guide and the winery guides were knowledgeable and the food pairings at Torress and Freixnet were excellent and well proportioned. We were there during the harvesting Sept so it was an added bonus to walk through the vines grown for tastings and sample the various grapes. The tour bus pickup / drop off point is very close to the Plaza Catalunya square in Barcelona.

Really wonderful day trip. Enjoyed the wines we tried and the tours of the wineries. Beautiful scenery.

Again, this is a tour we would give 4.5 stars, if available. There were about 20 of us on a comfortable bus. We visited the small Jean Leon winery and had a very nice tour and excellent wine tasting with cheese, olive, crackers, etc. A very knowledgeable host was a bonus and the everything was excellent. This was followed by a visit to the Torres winery, which is one of the largest in Spain and was quite amazing in the size of its operation. However, that was no drawback, as the wines they served with their most excellent selection of cheeses, were superb. We wished we could purchase more than the one bottle, but will have to find them at home. The last visit was to the Friexenet winery. Again, excellent wines served with local meats and cheese. Another really enjoyable and worthwhile tour. Our only complaint would be having to listen to the same long-winded announcements on the bus in two or more languages before each stop.

This was an excellent tour with 14 English speaking people and 2 non-English speaking people which caused the guide to spend an unexpected amount of time with the 2 non-English speaking tourists. The tour was advertised as English speaking, so we were disappointed at all the dead time waiting for 2 people to catch up with the rest of the group. The guide also seemed confused that these two people were assigned to the group, as he told us he did not expect nor does he normally conduct bi-lingual tours. Other than the lag time, this was a very good tour and we felt it beat expectations based on our entry level knowledge of the wine region. The wineries selected for this trip were excellent choices which presented a great overview of the region and wine making styles.
