Sofia is a doll, knowledgeable in Madeira history and a fabulous story teller. We enjoyed her tour very much. We brought home some cookies from a lovely bakery and we highly recommend this tour. You will not be disappointed. Sofia's tour is when my husband agreed to try red wine for the first time and is now hooked (and trying to find Madeira wine in the U.S.!)

Save yourself the expensive of this tour and stroll towntown on your own to sample the food and drinks that Funchal has to offer. The portions were very small and not very good. Our guide couldn't leave fast enough at the last stop and we felt a little stranded after this. Thank goodness for maps of Funchal.

We did the tasting tour in Funchal at the end of October as part of our Madeira initiation and were not disappointed. It was our first albeit short trip to the Island and the tour was a perfect intro into history, people and of course food and wine. Our tour guide was great and shared a lot of interesting detail so all in all something to remember and recommend.

A really excellent tour. Sofia was very knowledgeable and passionate about Madeira and gave us some really interesting insights into its history and traditions. The food and wine tasting was varied but very representative of the local cuisine.

Excellent tour, interesting cafes and restaurants. Sofia was a very knowledgeable guide and the places she took us to would not have been easily found by ourselves.
