Know More about this tour

After pickup from your selected meeting point in Melbourne, your day trip starts with the approximate 1-hour drive to the Yarra Valley. Throughout the day, youll be accompanied by your guide, a wine expert who will entertain and educate you about the varietals that grow in this renowned wine region.

Stop at your first winery, Steels Gate Wines is a boutique winery situated in a picturesque hillside setting at Dixons Creek. Their range of wines are all estate grown and estate made offering finesse and exceptional flavour. Enjoy the relaxed atmosphere which makes this the perfect place to experience delicious wines while absorbing the serenity of the Yarra Valley
Continue your day trip to your second winery, Balgownie Estate, a small vineyard famed for its cabernet sauvignon and shiraz varieties. Spend your first 30 minutes here at the tasting table, and then head into the winery restaurant for lunch, which includes a glass of wine and tea or coffee. While you eat, enjoy great views of the vineyard.

Next, head to Yering Farm, a rustic winery whose cellar door is housed in a converted hay shed situated on top of a hill. Admire the antique copper tools used by pioneer winemakers more than 100 years ago while you sample the wines and before making your way to your last winery of the day, to the French champagne company Moet and Chandon's Australian production house. Take a private guided tour of the winery to see how sparkling wine is made, and then relax with a glass of bubbly while you marvel at the gorgeous vineyard views.

Your day trip ends with the return drive to Melbourne, where you are dropped off at your original pickup point.

Note: If lunch is not available at Balgownie Estate on the day of your tour, youll have lunch at a similar venue. Itinerary subject to change without notice.

Really enjoyable day out. Lunch was first class. Tony the driver had a great commentary and really knew his wines.

Very nicely conducted Ample tasting Lunch selection was good Nice views So many wineries but those selected for the tour were very nice

Our driver / guide Tony was most enjoyable. Good driver, commented on local attractions, knowledgeable about growing and tasting wine and he has a great sense of humor. We stopped at four wineries including lunch at one of them. A very enjoyable excursion.

When we booked this trip, we arranged to be picked up at the Immigration Museum. Our driver, Peter, showed up about 15 minutes late, but did apologize and still was able to get to all of the planned wineries and back roughly at the planned time so that was good. There were 21 people on our tour, and we were on a 23 seat bus so it was nearly full. We visited 4 wineries (including Rochford instead of Greenstone which we had been expecting) where we had tastings and were served lunch at Balgownie Estate. Each winery let us taste 5 or 6 wines, and we had a choice of a glass of either red or white wine with our lunch. Lunch consisted of a choice of salmon, chicken, pork belly or risotto. My wife and I both had the salmon which was very good. Another change from the trip description is that face masks are no longer required or any type of proof of vaccination.

Great scenery and visited some lovely wineries. Driver was extremely thoughtful and helpful assisting my grandmother on and off the bus.

  • 05-Nov-2022

We bought along our 12 year boy on this trip. Peter the tour operator was kind, extremely funny, knowledgeable and super punctual. We went to 4 wineries and he guided as very well. 100% recommend if in Melbourne.

Great value for money, Tony was a great tour guide. Beautiful winery. Will definitely do again and recommend

  • 03-Nov-2022

The first place was amazing and beautiful (See photos). Food at the second place was very good. The man talking at the third place was so passionate and knowledgeable. The final place wasn't great because we were stuck in the hall area with no seats.

Great day out exploring the wineries of the Yarra. Beautiful scenery, good variety of wines and very nice lunch at Balgownie winery. Tony was bloody hilarious, with a great playlist on the radio and a down to earth attitude that is poles apart from the usual pretentious wine tour operators. Thanks for the tip on the pub Tony, we had a very nice post tour drink (or three) with Chloe! Highly recommend this tour

Learnt more about Melbourne's history today than the previous 10 years, so interesting and really informative about Yarra Valley's history told by our host John. Visited four different wineries, each unique and every one so very friendly and obliging. Overall a great day.
