Know More about this tour

Your journey begins with a convenient pickup at your hotel. You'll cross the San francisco Bay bridge en route to the Sierra Nevada mountain range, driving through gold rush towns as your guide carries you back to the era of the old West.

This is the only 1-day tour that let's you experience the famous Sierra Nevada redwoods. On arrival at Yosemite national park, your first experience will be hiking to the Tuolumne grove of Giant Sequoias (weather permitting) and having your breath taken away by their size and majesty. This is an unguided and strenuous hike for some, so consult with your guide about taking it.

Continue your journey through Yosemite with a stop at Inspiration point for a birds-eye view of the whole valley. Gaze up at the massive granite formations of Half dome and El capitan, watch for rock climbers as they daringly make their way to the summit. In the springtime, marvel at the tallest waterfall in the park, Yosemite falls.

Later, you will have 1-2 hours of free time to explore Yosemite valley. For lunch, enjoy a picnic next to the Merced River or visit one of the restaurants at Yosemite lodge (not included). Pick from a variety of activities available within the park, like: hiking to one of Yosemite's waterfalls, spotting a black bear; renting bikes for a leisurely trip through the valley, cooling off in lovely river pools (summer), or simply relaxing at the Valley Visitor Center or Ansel adams gallery.

When it's time to head back to San francisco, sit back and enjoy the scenic ride through the Sierra Nevada and into the sunset.

Please note: The weather in Yosemite is highly variable and includes rain and snow in winter and high temperatures in summer. The itinerary may be adapted to make the most of Yosemite during different seasons and times of the year.

The Giant Sequoias are best visited between May and October. During the rest of the year, snow and ice conditions may prevent access to roads and trails. In this event, other activities may be substituted in its place.

    Inclusions

    Expert guide and commentary

Hotel pickup and drop-off (most hotels in downtown San Francisco/Fisherman's Wharf area, but do not pick up outside SF city limits)

Confirmation will be received at time of booking

Access to the Sequoia Grove can be difficult during winter months, generally October through April, and other activities may be substituted at the discretion of the guide

During winter months, temperatures in Yosemite can vary drastically to the ones in San Francisco. Therefore, it is recommend to wear winter clothes, especially shoes or boots with rubber soles and treads

California law requires tour guests to bring a car safety seat for all children under 8 years and under 4' 9" (1.4 meters) in height

As tour sizes vary, transportation is in a 15-passenger van or a 41-passenger tour bus

Tour makes stops at approximately 8:30am for breakfast, 1pm for lunch and on the trip back for dinner. Meals are not included

Audio guides are available in Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, French, German, Korean, Mandarin and Japanese. Specify language at time of booking under special requirements.

For hotel pickups, please select the Hilton Union Square if your hotel is not listed

    Please note:

The Giant Sequoias Grove is located at a higher elevation and the hike is dependent on trail conditions, especially from October through May. Ice and snow might make the trail unsafe to hike. The decision of whether it is safe to go on the hike will be made on a day by day basis. Therefore, a visit cannot be guaranteed. However, while the trail might be closed, guests get to spend more time in Yosemite Valley. There you can see all the other great sights Yosemite has to offer, including El Capitan, Inspiration Point, Half Dome, Yosemite Falls and more.

We had a great trip to Yosemite national park. Our tour guide Jason was awesome with a lot of knowledge of the area and some cool stories as well.

Absolutely worth it!!!! Forget about the distance, you are not driving anyways, and enjoy the beautiful views of Yosemite. You'll have time to do it all!!! I loved it!!!

This was a great day! Even though the day was long our tour guide made it feel great all the way through. I would have given the tour a five, our tour guide is definitely worth it, but it is promoted as a tour also going to the sequoias during the winter (if it is not too dangerous). But reading about Toulumn grove and after being on the tour I get the impression they actually just don't go during winter. If this is their policy to not go there when it is snow covered (as it is during the winter) because the company think it is a too large of a risk then they should not write it in the title and itinerary during this season in my opinion. So I am disappointed at the description of the tour and how they put the sequoias forward but I recommend it due to the great guiding of San Francisco and California history, landscape changes and main industries etc as well as tales about Yosemite. Nice touch with music directly linked with San Francisco, California and good to get recommended food choices etc to make the breaks go smoothly. If you go on the tour make sure to bring water and shoes/clothes to be outside, I would also recommend an outdoor lunch box.

This was a fantastic day triip from SF to Yosemite. Denise was a great tour guide with so much knowledge to share, not only about the park but about SF (including some great restaurant recommendations) and US / Californian history. The pacing felt right and we appreciated the stops for breakfast and dinner, as well as the suggestion to buy lunch in the morning so as not to waste time at the restaurant when in Yosemite. Unfortunately we didn't get to see the Sequoias because of the snow, but this was noted as a possibility when we booked the tour so we weren't too disappointed. Would highly recommend this tour to anyone wanting to see Yosemite from SF!

Here is the deal. The tour is 5/5, advertising/communication is 2/5. The tour is nice, the bus is clean, comfortable, and has WiFi and USB chargers. The group is on the smaller and more reasonable side (30-40 people). Our stellar guide Denise, a life-long SF resident, was super professional, enthusiastic and knowledgeable. Told us tons of information about San Francisco, Yosemite, El Capitan, and more, and suggested nice places to visit and eat in SF. The tour(December) proceeded as the following:

      1. You are required to call and then also email tour operator to confirm your pickup location.
      2. Pickup everyone if SF. Depending on your location, this can be anywhere from a couple minutes to an hour.
      3. Drive to Yosemite with a stop in midway to grab a bite and visit restroom. You get to see a lot of rural California, which is cool.
      4. Arrive to Yosemite at one of the top entrances. We entered at the head of a trail leading to Tuolumne Grove, the location of the Gian Sequoias. If there is no snow on the trail - you get to hike to the Sequoias.
      5. Start a descent into Yosemite Valley, the home of many water falls, Merced River, and El Capitan. On the way down, you stop a few times in most picturesque places to snap photos.
      6. Once in the valley, you are given a couple of hours to roam around to visit the Merced river and lower Yosemite waterfalls.
      7. You come back to the bus and drive to the bottom of El Capitan to see the climbers.
      8. You drive back with a stop for food and restroom (about 4 hours).
      9. Drop off everyone in SF.

Why 3-star rating? You see, the tour is advertised as 'Yosemite National Park and Giant Sequoias', with Sequoias being the main advantage over the competitors. They do tell you that depending on weather conditions, you may or may not see the Sequoias. What they don't tell you is the trail and the road leading to Sequoias are high in the mountains and are covered with snow pretty much all the time mid-Fall through mid-Spring. The road is closed and the tourists are not allowed on the trail by the tour operator for liability reasons (it is not closed to general public). This is not 'may or may not', the Sequoias are not accessible for the winter PERIOD. To be fair, we were told the Sequoias are closed and offered a refund after we picked everyone, but come on -it was obviously too late to change any plans. A simple note on the web page and during the call and email (step 1) would be sufficient and would have changed this into 5/5.

The pick up was on time, although the driver was a little scruffy and the seats on the bus could have been a lot more comfortable .As expected it was long drive with stops along the way.The driver was knowable the delivery could have been better, unfortunately there was no water flowing in any of the falls (just bad timing on our part) not a lot of point in looking at the rocks where the fall should have been!! The stop for the Sequoias was not good, the driver had repeatedly said if you are unable to manage the steep walk down and back DO NOT do it ,however, we were NOT allowed to stay on the bus and unceremoniously told to get off.Being a little bewilder we got off without taking our extra jackets to be left out in cold for 90 minutes WAS NOT GOOD. This part MUST be improved!! for those aged and physically challenged.

It was an amazing experience. Our guide Trish was really good. She was so competent and positive. It was a pleasure to visit such a wonderful place and to know more about the wonders of the nature in California.

Great day! Highly recommend during your visit to San Fransisco. Great getaway from the busy city. Our guide Brad is a wonderful storyteller and made the day really special and memorable. We had fantastic autumn weather with lovely clear blue skies and beautiful sunset on the way back to end the day. Although it was a long day, frequent stops for refreshments, photos and walks made the day go by without feeling too onerous.
