Next, you'll travel to the world-famous fishing villages of Volendam and Marken, on the coast of the former Zuiderzee (now called Ijselmeer). The old wooden houses here are built on stilts and locals still wear their colorful traditional dresses. Then, take a 20-minute boat trip from Volendam to Marken, with approximately 45 minutes at each stop (summer only). The cruise is optional but is included in the cost of the tour.
During the day you'll also stop at one of the few farms where cheese is still made in the traditional way.
7-Hour tour departing at 12pm
This option was created based on customer feedback to offer an alternative itinerary and longer tour duration. The afternoon tour at 12pm is 7hours in duration. It visits the windmill village of "Zaanse schans" and the towns of Marken and Volendam. However, this tour gives you more time at all 3 locations.

This trip was awesome! Our tour guides and bus driver were amazing. The bus driver would play the piano and sing while we were loading the bus and at stops. Even though the weather was raining, the trip was still well worth it. The windmills were beautiful and I really enjoyed the stop to be able to take pictures and the guides also assisted in taking every single picture of me with a smile on their faces! I really enjoyed the cheese factory tour, the stroopwaffle experience was really neat as well. The clog making shop and demonstration was interesting and I enjoyed that stop. I think the time frame allocated for the stops were good except i would add 30 more minutes to the second stop on the half day tour to accommodate lunch a little longer. With that many people in the restaurant, our group's food came late and we barely were able to eat the majority of our meal without missing the stroopwaffle demonstration. Other than that, the tour was great. I thought it was a great combination to see the other city stops and the other experiences.

It's really mesmerizing. This is the best way to explore Countryside and in very reasonable price. Though you can book from other operators but we got discount from Viator so it's more value for money. It's always raining so better to carry raincoat.

Wow, what a great way to see windmills, how cheese, stroopwaffle and clogs are made. Stef and his wife and team made the trip amazing. Stefs piano and songs and his wife’s stories of the land made this a wonderful and well priced trip!

Overall great tour! Tour group was rather large but the staff handled the group wonderfully and with efficiency. Enjoyed the visits to the windmill, cheese factory, clog factory, and stroppwaffle demonstration. The audio and in person guides were very informative. Great way to see the Dutch countryside.

This is the second time I’ve done this tour ad it’s really so great and the tour guides are so fun! Highly recommended

I have given 4/5 as the tour company went above and beyond to get my party back to Amsterdam on time. However a word of warning. The tour is advertised as 5.5hours and not including the ferry in winter months for afternoon bookings. I booked on that basis and we had flights 3 hours after the tour was listed as getting back to the train station. Whilst on the tour I discovered it was going to be more like 6.5 hours which panicked my sister. At first they said we’d need to get public transport back to Amsterdam but then they managed to get hold of another group and we joined that to get back. Sister blamed me for booking an afternoon excursion when we had a flight on the night. The windmills were great, I missed the middle stop sorting out our bags so can’t rate it and the clog factory was great too. Got some amazing photos. Still on speaking terms with my sister!

We had such a great time. When we were at Zaanse Schans we toured the lumber mill. Tools some fabulous photos. The Cheese Factory in Volendam was fun and the cheese was fabulous, we were able to buy some that we could bring back to the states. Marken was great, we wished we had room for clogs. Ian, Roy and Driver William.. thank you for an awesome tour!

Fantastic tour! I had to book this trip when the full day was cancelled and I’m so glad I ended up here. You spend enough time at each spot to enjoy but not too long. Daniella was our main tour guide. Great information. Highly recommend
