Know More about this tour

Meet your guide at Jelai Square (Trg Josipa Jelaia) in Zagreb's lower town neighborhood, and then set off on your leisurely paced walking tour around the city. While entertaining you with stories and anecdotes about Zagreb's history and culture, your guide will introduce you to some of the city's finest attractions.

Amble past the gleaming white facade of Zagreb Cathedral or the Cathedral of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, to use its formal name and then wander along the central Zagreb streets that are lined with elegant 19th- and 20th-century buildings. Pose for photos by Lotrak Tower, a fortified monument from which a cannon is fired each day.

Take a respite from Zagrebs daytime heat with a stroll along Strossmayer Promenade, the leafy terraced walkway that links Zagreb's lower town to it's upper town. At the end of the terrace, gaze in admiration at the Stone Gate, one of the city's prettiest landmarks. Marking the eastern entrance to the medieval quarter of Gradec, the Stone Gate is now a lovingly decorated shrine to the Virgin Mary.

Head into Zagreb's upper town and walk along Kravi Most, a street that's unofficially (and confusingly) known as the 'bloody bridge.' Most definitely a street and not a bridge, Kravi Most's nickname attests to the medieval battles that once took place on it between the warring neighborhoods of Gradec and Kaptol.

After 1.5 hours of exploring the city, return to the start point where your tour finishes.

  • We had another great Viator tour...this time given by Andrea, a young woman who grew up in Split but now lives in Zagreb. Andrea's background provided additional insight into Croatia itself which added to our walking tour in the beautiful city of Zagreb. Our two hour tour was just the right amount of time in our long weekend in Zagreb, a beautiful and welcoming city.

  • We were so glad we did this tour! I would never have gotten this much from walking around on my own! The guide was fantastic and had so many great personal insights for us!

  • The short walking tour was fantastic. Our tour guide had excellent English and kept your interest with stories and the occasional joke. One and a half hours was just the right length to see the historic areas some of which, we would never have discovered ourselves.

  • We got an excellent overview of Zagreb from the tour. Our guide, Andrea, knew her stuff and communicated in really good English. Highly recommend this tour.

  • Ivan Markovic Ribic aka Maki, was amazing. We were only 3 so we had lots of opportunity to pepper him with questions and find out the details of Zagreb. He also gave us some hints about the local food and other sites to see on our journey through Croatia. This was the best tour we have done so far!

  • the guide was very helpful. I had been in Zagreb before on my own and with a guide it definitely has a different flavour.

  • Our guide provided an outstanding historical overview of Croatia accentuated with personal details about every day life in Zagreb.

  • Marja was amazing as a guide. I highly recommend this.

  • Learned a lot about Zagreb and culture while visiting central Zagreb. Guide was very knowledgeable and kind. She answered all questions and more. She also explained other parts of the city and country. She also let us know of other must do's. Definitely worth it!

  • Our guide Marija was lovely. She adapted our tour to ensure that we saw some sites that were on our list. She was extremely knowledgable and kept my children interested the whole time.
