Day 1: The Old Town and Nearby Places
Begin the day with delicious breakfast
The Old Town area of Albuquerque not only houses old buildings but also the authentic Mexican taste that you can enjoy at one of the restaurants located here. Enjoy your Mexican favorites at Los Compadres or discover some regional specialties at El Charritos. Capo's Italian Restaurant is also a great place to enjoy some Italian classics while you are spending 48 hours in Albuquerque.
Walk through the streets of Old Town
A stroll through the narrow streets of Old Town will make you familiar with the roots of Mexican culture. While there are plenty of restaurants offering mouthwatering pastries and Mexican varieties, you can spend some time shopping the antique jewelry and pottery from the artisan shops. Stop at Old Town Plaza, the historic square of the town and visit the 18th-century San Felipe de Neri Church.
Museums, Parks, and Sunset at Sandia Peak
The old town is also home to the New Mexico Museum of Natural History where you can see the Dinosaur skeletons. If there is an artist in you, you should not miss visiting the Albuquerque Museum where you will get a glimpse of Mexican art. Once you are done with these, you can take a tramway to Sandia Peak to gaze at the panoramic views of the city and Sandia Peak. Reach here before sunset as the setting sun looks breathtakingly beautiful. Enjoy your dinner with few drinks here.
