7 Days in Atlanta - Perfect 1 Week Guide

Atlanta is the capital of the U.S. state of Georgia and one of the most important cities in the United States. Atlanta’s brush with history is celebrated even today. Atlanta is also home to the headquarters of many big companies like Coca-Cola, CNN, and Delta. Additionally, the world's largest aquarium is also located here.

What to see in Atlanta in 7 days?

Day 1, 2 and 3: Downtown Atlanta

Some of the best things to explore in Atlanta are located in the downtown. You can easily spend a couple of days here exploring many of the capital’s top museums and historical sites. Whether coming here for the first time, or been a regular here, this part of the city has something for everyone. Start your day 1 by visiting the Pemberton Place. Attractions here include GA Aquarium - a popular family destination that displays spectacular underwater life, World of Coca-Cola Museum - world’s largest permanent display of Coke memorabilia, and Centre for Civil and Human Rights – a powerful yet moving museum. In the afternoon, visit the Centennial Olympic Park for some leisure time. Call it a day by visiting the SkyView Atlanta. On the day 2 and 3 of your 7-day Atlanta trip, you can cover many more downtown Atlanta attractions like - Children’s Museum of Atlanta, Martin Luther King, Jr. National Historical Park, Jimmy Carter Presidential Library and Museum, The Fox Theatre, College Football Hall of Fame, CNN Studio Tour, Hunger Games Tour, Carter Centre, The Varsity, and The Masquerade.

Day 4 and 5: History and Outdoors

On the following days, explore places that are with 3 to 10 miles of the downtown. On day 4, take it slow. Visit the Atlanta Botanical Garden and Piedmont Park for some soulful time with the nature. In the evening, visit the Beltline. A pedestrian friendly that offers many recreational activities along with great shopping and dining options. Reserve your day 5 for many museums of Atlanta. On this day, visit the Atlanta History Centre, Smith Family Farm at Atlanta History Centre, Swan House at Atlanta History Centre, and the Frankie Allen Park. Day 6: Adventure

Located at about 11 miles west, the Six Flags Over Georgia is a massive adventure theme park. With 11 roller coasters, three children's areas, and many water and thrill rides. The largest regional theme park in the Southeast, this is a great place to hang out with family and friends. Some of the rides that you must try out here are Acrophobia, Batman - The Ride, Carrot Patch, Dahlonega Mine Train, Convoy Grande, Skull Island, and Tsunami Surge. Apart from the many rides and activities, this place has many amazing places to eat and shop at.

Day 7: Head out

On this day, head to Georgia's most-visited attraction – the Stone Mountain Park. Sprawling over 3,200 beautiful acres of land, this park offers a ton of family activities during every season. The park has a Lasershow Spectacular in Mountainvision® (a choreographed light show), the Crossroads area for many live shows, shopping, and dining activities, a Mount Rushmore lookalike with faces of Robert E. Lee, Stonewall Jackson, and Jefferson Davis carved into it, and many attractions adventure rides. This park is located at 20 miles east of downtown Atlanta and you can easily spend an entire day at this park.
