Bali is a charming Indonesian island that is known for its lush green rice fields, forested hills, active and inactive volcanoes, a unique blend of art and culture, spiritual centers, yoga camps, and delicious cuisines. This Bali travel guide will tell you about everything from places to eat, temples to explore, beached to visit, and markets to buy souvenirs from.
Day 1 In Bali
Make it all about temples and beaches in Bali
Bali is a mix of unique culture and art and has numerous places that represent it. You must soak yourself in the local flavour on your first day in Bali. As you have only 48 hours in Bali, start your day early and head towards Ubud Art Market. This market has become popular amongst tourists with its lovely collection of Ikat and Batik patterns along with other traditional handmade clothing, different storage boxes, hats, and jewelry. Featured in the famous movie ‘Eat Pray Love’, it is an ideal place to shop for exquisite souvenirs.
If you want to cover most of the major points of interest in one day, then you can visit Garuda Wisnu Kencana Cultural Park that is located more than an hour away from the Ubud Market. Spread over 60 hectares and home to different attractions, this site is visited by thousands of people every day. Wander around for more than a couple of hours and be astonished by majestic statues placed on the premises.
After spending an afternoon at this cultural park, visit Uluwatu area to catch a lovely sunset. You will get to explore its magnificent Uluwatu Temple that is built on the edge of the cliff and offer stunning panoramic vistas of surrounding landscapes. Your 2-day Bali tour cannot be complete without visiting temples. The area is also known as the surfing destination in Bali as it has ideal conditions for this water sport.
You can visit Pasar Gianyar market at night to experience the charming nightlife in Bali. This local market is open till 11 pm and is a great place to go on a shopping spree and satiate your hunger at the same time. As you have only 2 days/1 night in Bali, visiting this place will give you a chance to pamper your taste buds with local delicacies. Be in the heart of nature
You cannot miss exploring imposing volcanoes in Bali when you are visiting this exciting place. Include Mount Agung in your Bali itinerary for 2 days and understand how enthralling it can be to visit an active volcano. Though it takes more than 3 hours to reach the top of the volcano, you can choose not to go all the way up. You can spend a couple of hours around here and dedicate the remaining time to discovering other attractions in Bali.
You must visit Seminyak Beach while you are in Bali. This pristine beach has shores covered in golden, white sand and clear water that carries a refreshing blue color. Beaches in Bali will give you an opportunity to go surfing or simply lazing around for hours. What else do you need to make a vacation ideal? You can also choose from other options like Echo Beach, Balangan Beach, and Padang Padang Beach.
You can go club-hopping at Seminyak Beach. With numerous clubs, pubs, and bars that adorn the areas, it is possible to dance the night away here.
Bali is cheap when it comes to vacationing and you will not need more than USD 300 or EUR 350 daily even if you plan a luxury trip to Bali. You can manage in lesser that USD 30 or EUR 20 per day if you are a budget traveler.
