Here is a Barcelona itinerary for 4 days, using which you will be able to make the most of your time.
Day 1 In Barcelona
Start off your first day in Barcelona with a Gaudi tour. Antoni Gaudi was an exceptional architect and the proof of his work is scattered in the entire city of Barcelona. This also includes Barcelona’s most famous attraction - La Sagrada Familia. This unfinished church, whose construction started in 1880 is considered to be Gaudi’s finest work.
After a tiring tour, this is the best way to relax and unwind oneself. You can swim in the water, enjoy some sunbathing time, admire the many modernista buildings lined near the beach, or indulge in some water sports. There are also many restaurants and bars near the beach where you can have a delicious dinner.
Day 2 In Barcelona
On your second day in Barcelona, head towards the Ciutadella Park. It has many features and dates back to the 1800s. There is a boating lake, museums, a zoo, and walking trails to explore the entire park. You can easily spend half of your day in this green oasis. The park is located near Barri Gotic which is a popular neighborhood in Barcelona. Here, you will find many restaurants offering mouth-watering food. Choose one and have a scrumptious lunch.
Start off by first visiting the Museum of Picasso which is located quite close to Ciutadella Park. The museum houses an extensive collection of the artwork by Pablo Picasso.
You may go on a museum hopping spree thereafter. A few notable museums in Barri Gotic include Museum of History of Barcelona, Museu Frederic Marès, and Maritime Museum.
At night, beat Plaça de Catalunya. This is a plaza which is a favorite amongst many for food and drinks. You can embark on a gastronomic journey by visiting this plaza.
Day 3 In Barcelona
Start off your third day with an early morning hike up to Montjuïc. Once you reach the top of this hill, you will be stunned by the breathtaking vistas of the city. There are attractions such as Montjuïc Castle, botanical garden, and a military museum on the top.
Montjuïc would take an entire day if you decide to hike up the hill. However, if you wish to skip all the legwork, then just opt for the cable car ride. This way you will able to save a little time which you can utilize to explore Plaça d'Espanya. This plaza is packed with fountain shows, architectural achievements, shops, cafes, and restaurants. You may admire the buildings built in the modernist style of architecture, sit at a cafe and sip on a cup of coffee, or be delighted watching the light and fountain show along the street leading to Montjuïc.
