2 Days in Belfast - Perfect Weekend Guide
Northern Ireland’s capital, Belfast is best known as the birthplace of RMS Titanic. One of Europe's top visitor destinations, Belfast has reinvented itself after its stint with the politically-motivated violence. Today, the city is termed as one of the safest cities in UK and has become a popular short-break destination where you can revitalize, regenerate and renew.
Once a prominent shipbuilding center, Belfast has many touristy spots. Places like Belfast Waterfront, Titanic Quarter Limited, W5, and Crumlin Road Gaol Visitor Attraction and Conference Centre are just a few of the best places to visit in Belfast.
If you have 2 days in Belfast, here is how you can make the most of your time.
How to spend 2 days in Belfast?
Day 1 In Belfast
Start your day 1 of 48 hours in Belfast by first taking a ride on a hop-on-hop-off city sightseeing bus. This will help you cover most of the important sites without having to waste a lot of time. Check out many places like Parliament Buildings, George’s Market, Belfast City Hall, Cathedral Quarter, and the Albert Clock on this 2-hour tour. Next, visit the Titanic Belfast. One of the most famous attractions in Belfast, this museum is created at the former site of the Harland & Wolff shipyard. Apart from displaying exhibits that talk of Belfast’s maritime heritage through many full-scale reconstructions and innovative interactive artifacts, this is also the site where the RMS Titanic was built. After lunch, head to the Botanic Gardens. A popular public park, this place has a display of many tropical species of plants and a beautiful conservatory.
In the evening, make the most of Belfast’s fantastic nightlife. Choose from many bars like Laverys, Cuckoo, or The Parlour Bar. Whatever your style, a low-key relaxed night or a drinking spree, Belfast will not disappoint.
Day 2 In Belfast
Start your day 2 by heading to Giant's Causeway. Located about 60 miles north of the city, an hour’s drive should take you to one of nature’s best creations. This area has about 40,000 interlocking basalt columns that stick out of the sea. After spending a few moments soaking in the breath-taking beauty of this place, you can visit the nearby museum that sheds light on the science behind this legend. Be back in the city post lunch and take a Belfast black taxi tour. This short ride will take you past Catholic Falls Road and Protestant Shankill Road and give you a chance to admire the beautiful wall murals, Peace Walls, the docks, and the university area. In the evening, head to The Belfast Empire Music Hall for a night full of soulful jazz and blues coupled with traditional Irish food.
