What to see in 3 days in Bologna?

Day 1 In Bologna

Start your day 1 of the Bologna city tour by first visiting the Towers of Bologna. Power symbols of the city, the view from the top is to die for. The taller one, the Torre degli Asinelli is open to public and is 97.2 meters high. After you have soaked in some stunning views of the city, head to Piazza Maggiore – the heart of the town. Featuring many important buildings like Basilica di San Petronio, Palazzo dei Notai, Palazzo d'Accursio, Palazzo del Podestà, and Palazzo dei Bianchi, this square will take the better part of your day.

Stop for lunch at Osteria dell’Orso. The piadina here is a must-have. In the afternoon, walk to Via dell'Indipendenza, the main street of Bologna. Perfect for an afternoon stroll, this street has many shops. If shopping is not your thing, you can admire the many porticos that line the street. Later in the evening, head to Piazza Maggiore again. Enjoy the city’s evening buzz just the way locals like to do!

Day 2 In Bologna

Begin your day by first heading to the Basilica di San Domenico. This 13th-century church is also the burial site of Saint Dominic, founder of the Order of Preachers (Dominicans). After exploring the many interesting aspects of this church, head to the Giardini Margherita. Open since 1879, this park is home to many trees like the lime, cedar, sycamore, and oak. Next, stop at the University of Bologna. Founded in 1088, this is one of the oldest universities in Europe. For lunch, head to Spacca Napoli. The smell of melting cheese and delicious carbs will make you want to walk right through that door.

Later in the afternoon, visit places like Piazza del Nettuno, the Fountain of Neptune, Palazzo Re Enzo, Palazzo del Podestà, the City Halls, and the Basilica di San Petronio. After all the walking, Da Pietro Trattoria Ristorante Tradizionale would be a perfect place for dinner. The food served here is some of the best in the city, and the staff will keep you happy by filling up our wine glasses.
