3 Days in Budapest - Perfect 72 Hours Guide
Listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site for its architectural and cultural splendor, Budapest is a historic blend of two cities called Buda and Pest. Budapest is the capital of Hungary and also is the center of its economic and cultural affairs. Budapest is also close to the cities like Vienna and Prague which adds more to its importance. From illuminated bridges to medieval castles and palaces, there is much to explore in this Hungarian city. But you have only 3 days in Budapest, here are some ideas to explore the city like a real traveler.
What to see in 3 days in Budapest?
Day 1 In Budapest
A walking tour of the Castle Hill and Gellert Hill
Most of the famous sights in Budapest are at a walking distance from each other. Therefore, you can spend the first day of your 72 hours in Budapest by taking a walking tour of the places like Castle Hill and Gellert Hill. Both of these are situated on the west side of the Danube River. Buda Hills in the Castle District is a wonderful place to be at during the daytime. Know some interesting facts about the historic Buda Castle that also houses the Hungarian National Gallery. Close to it, there is Budapest History Museum that will tell you many stories from the history of Hungary. Have your meal at one of the restaurants by the river and head to the Gellert Hill area where you will come across the attractions like Liberty Statue and Citadella. Enjoy a relaxing spa at Gellert Baths in the evening.
Day 2 In Budapest
An amalgamation of historical and natural landscapes
Enjoying a cup of coffee on the terrace of Fisherman’s Bastion is one of the best ways to start your day in Budapest. Capture the panoramic views of the Danube River in your camera from this historical building. The Roman Catholic Church of Matthias can be your next stop. Look into the history of Hungary at Hospital in the Rock and the Military Museum. At evening you can cross the Chain Bridge, one of the landmark bridges in Budapest on the Danube River. Witness the unique shoe sculptures by the river and finally have a musical night and drinks at Otkert Night Club.
Day 3 In Budapest
Explore the Central Pest
Your Budapest itinerary of 3 days should end with your tour of the Central Pest, the east side of Danube River. Start by visiting the Hungarian Jewish Museum. Stop at the largest synagogue in the world- Dohány Street Synagogue and Hungarian National Museum. Have lunch at the Vaci Street while gazing at the river and finally reach the heaven for all shopaholics- the Great Market Hall. If you want to admire all the beautiful buildings located by the river at a glance, it would be a nice idea to go for an evening walk at Danube Promenade.
Although 3 days in Budapest are not enough to soak in its cultural atmosphere, this 3 days/ 2 nights itinerary will help you to tour some of the best landmarks.
