Day 1 In Cairo

Start off your 48 hours in Cairo by heading towards the Pyramids of Giza. Located some 18 kilometers away from the city center, it would take around 45 minutes to reach the complex of pyramids. Ideally, it takes around 2 hours to view all the pyramids and the sphinx that date back some 4,500 years ago. Coming back to Cairo, gorge on Egyptian food at one of Cairo's finest restaurant called Zooba. This place offers authentic Egyptian dishes and is known to serve them with a slight twist. After relishing good food, make your way towards the Egyptian Museum. It would hardly take 15 minutes to reach the museum by cab from Zooba. Established in 1902, the Egyptian Museum houses about 120,000 artifacts. With these many artifacts to view, it would occupy the rest of your day. If time permits, you may also visit Coptic Cairo which is home to the Babylon Fortress, the Hanging Church, the Greek Church of St George.

Day 2 In Cairo

On your second day in Cairo, head towards the Pyramids of Sakkara. Located about 32 kilometers away from the city center, you can reach the pyramids in about 45 minutes. This is considered to be an important archaeological site. You can see the Step Pyramid of Djoser, Pyramid of Unas, Pyramid of Sekhemkhet, Mastaba of Ti, and the deep underground Persian Tombs at this place. Return back to Cairo and have lunch at a good restaurant. Thyen makes your way to Khan el-Khalili. This huge market is one of the prime attractions in Cairo. Wandering through the market, you will come across many shops selling jewelry, antiques, souvenirs, and much more. Besides, there are many cafes and eateries located in the area. Roaming through the market would easily take up the rest of your day.
