What to see in Cape Town in 6 days?
Day 1 & 2
Start your day 1 of 6D/5N Cape Town holiday by first visiting the museums of Cape Town. After a scrumptious breakfast at Bacon on Bree, head of the Company’s Garden. Here you can check out many museums like Cape Town Holocaust Centre, South African Jewish Museum, South African National Gallery, Western Cape Provincial Parliament, and Iziko South African Museum. This place also has many memorials and historical landmarks that you can stop at for a quick photo-stop. These include WP Gunners, Marks Building, and Delville Wood Memorial. After a quick lunch, head to the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront. Here you can visit Cape Town Diamond Museum, Zeitz MOCAA Museum, Two Oceans Aquarium, and Cape Town Stadium. End your day 1 with a nice meal at Mama Africa. On day 2, visit the Table Mountain National Park. Discover the region’s vast natural beauty on this day trip to the park. A few highlights of this park are the iconic, flat-topped Table Mountain, Signal Hill, Cape Point (Cape of Good Hope), Cape Floral Kingdom, and Boulders Penguin Colony.
Day 3 & 4
Cape Peninsula is a rocky peninsula that juts out into the Atlantic Ocean. On day 3, visit Simon’s Town. The Boulders Penguin Colony is home to thousands of delightful African penguins. You can observe the penguins from a boardwalk that runs from Boulders Visitor Centre to Boulders Beach. The penguins love to hang out at the Foxy Beach and hence this is the best place to view them. Later you can visit the Silvermine Nature Reserve. A leisurely park, this place offers stunning views of the Atlantic Ocean. On the following day, visit the Robben Island. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, the only way to reach this island is by taking a ferry. The island’s appeal lies in its rich and wretched history. South African presidents like Nelson Mandela, Kgalema Motlanthe, and Jacob Zuma have spent considerable jail time here. The various points of interest on this island are Robben Island Museum, Cornelia Battery, Robert Sobukwe House, and De Waal Battery.
Day 5 & 6
Reserve your day 5 for some serious hiking. On this day, visit the Lion's Head in the Table Mountain National Park. The walking and hiking trail options here are endless. All you need to get along with you are a good pair of shoes! As you make your way up to the top, there are many hidden caves along the way. To get to the top, you need to circle the mountain. At some places, the climb is very steep, and you may even require using your hands to climb. But once up, the views of Cape Town, Table Mountain, and the endless ocean are unparalleled. On the last day, shop till you drop. But before that swim with the sharks. There are many sites near Cape Town where you can go shark-cage diving. If you are the kind of a traveler that comes with a half-empty suitcase so that you can take back home a lot of stuff, this day is especially for you. Visit the Pan African Market and the Greenmarket Square for some Victorian tiling, old folk art, and clothing. Visit Heartworks to buys some quality souvenirs.
