How to spend 2 days in Dehradun?
Day 1 In Dehradun
On the first day of your 2-day Dehradun tour, visit the Robber's Cave (also known as Gachhupani) first thing in the morning. One of the most popular tourist places in Dehradun, this cave was formed by a river and is located near Anarwala Village. The cave is about 600 meters long and has a river flowing inside it. Later in the morning, around 10 AM, visit the Malsi Deer Park. This mini-zoological park is a major attraction among the tourists coming into Dehradun, especially the young ones. Spread over the area of 25 hectares, this park opened in 1976. After a quick lunch in the city, visit the Sahastradhara in the afternoon. This beautiful waterfall is perfect to visit during the afternoon. Cascading over the height of 30 feet, the water collects into many small pools where you can enjoy with your entire family. Before heading back in the city, stop at the Tapovan Temple. Located on the banks of River Ganges in Dehradun, this temple is absolutely peaceful and tranquil. Many believe that it was here that Dronacharya (a popular character from the Hindu epic Mahabharata) had undergone his penance.
In the evening, visit the Mall Road. Located in the heart of the city, you can also see the famous Doon School from here. The main attraction here is the Tibetan market where the guests can buy many wooden handicrafts.
Day 2 In Dehradun
Start your day 2 by visiting the Tapkeshwar Temple. This temple lies on the banks of Asan River and is dedicated to Lord Shiva. Later in the day, you can visit the Forest Research Institute which is one of the oldest institutions in the field of forest research in India. Later in the day, visit Wadia Institute of Himalayan Geology, yet another institution that focuses on the studies and research in earth sciences like glaciology, earthquakes, landslides, natural resources, and geodynamics. Subir Raha Oil Museum is yet another museum worth visiting. This museum is located inside ONGC (Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited), the foremost oil exploration and production company in India. In the evening, Tibetan Buddhist Temple/Mindrolling Monastery. Here you can see many monks, as well as get a chance to spend some minutes of peacefulness.
