A Day in Jaipur - Perfect 24 Hours Guide
The capital of Rajasthan, Jaipur is famous for the overwhelming experience that it offers every visitor. Hidden not only in its pink walls but also in the crowded streets, the tuk-tuk rides, the urban fauna, the cuisine and of course the forts, is the true soul of India.
The land is ever glowing, telling tales of valour, legends of the Gods, and the stories of humble women who are the hidden artisans of this state. Amidst the chaos of the streets, you will find yourself drawn to the chaiwallah, the fresh aroma of pakoras, the tingling of traditional jewelry, and the colors of the textile. A paradise for shoppers, foodies, history enthusiasts, nature lovers, artists, and most importantly, the travelers, Jaipur has everything that one would crave for.
It is impossible to experience this journey in one day, but if 1 day in Jaipur is all that you have got, might as well make the most of it!

How to spend 1 day in Jaipur?
Tour the city all morning:
The city of Jaipur has a number of historic sites which are a must visit. While it would take you all morning to complete this tour, you will also be free to set out and explore the forts in the afternoon. Begin the day with a scrumptious breakfast of Kachori Kadhi. Available at any of the local street eateries, and even in the fanciest restaurant, this dish is a must!
Next, head towards the City Palace. It will take almost 2 to 2.5 hours for you to explore the corridors of this 1700’s palace. While here, do take note of the designs and the patterns of the four gates, as something this beautiful can rarely be seen anywhere else. The grandeur of this palace is stunning, and the next destination soothes this effect with its own charm. The Hawa Mahal, or often called as the palace of winds, was built by the king for the royal women. Small windows, called Jharoka, make up the entire wall that overlooks the streets of today. The idea was for the wind to blow in during the summers to help the queens cool down. The architecture of the windows helps make the strong wind into a light breeze.
The next destination is Jantar Mantar. Home to architectural brilliance, you will find all the sculptures here to have astronomical significance. Ancient inscriptions in Sanskrit can be observed here. Before heading for lunch, stroll along the local markets. Jewelry, clothes, bedsheets, and more, Rajasthan’s best is right here.
Step into the past this afternoon:
For lunch, ask the locals for the best eatery nearby. The best way is to set out looking for a place that serves traditional Rajasthani food. Make sure you have Gatte ki Sabji, Ker Sangri, Dal Bati Churma, Halwa and Ghevar.
The next stop is Amer Fort. a little far off from the city, this fort plays a very important role in the history of India. Built in the 1500s, it was home to the brave Rajput. One of the five forts of Rajasthan that were included in the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites, it is probably one of the largest forts in this region. A number of buildings are located within the fort. Meant for specific people, meetings, and activities, they all describe the posh and difficult life of the royals.
Jal Mahal, located near the Amer Fort is another wonder. Showcasing traditional Rajput architecture, this palace is set amidst the waters of the Man Sagar Lake.
After an exhaustive day of sightseeing, shopping, and eating, the best way to end the day would be to enjoy the setting sun. Out of the many places in Jaipur that are perfect to see the sunset, Nahargarh Fort is amongst the first few. Not only does it offer the brilliant views of the Pink City, but the dazed hues of the setting sun are a visual treat! Another site is the Surya Mandir. Located close to Jal Mahal, you can head here to end your day peacefully.
