Kuala Lumpur is a melting pot because people from different corners of the world call it home. When it comes to visiting the largest city in Malaysia, you have so many attractions to choose from. You can spend days wandering the streets of Kuala Lumpur and still find a place that you had missed before. This city has a lovely combination of British colonial-era landmarks and majestic skyscrapers that dominate the skyline. When you are going to explore Kuala Lumpur in 6 days, you can follow this trip plan to have a wholesome experience. It will tell you about religious temples, cultural sites, museums, zoos, aquariums, as well as bustling nightlife areas.
Day 1 In Kuala Lumpur
Start your 1st day in the city by visiting KLCC Park. This lovely urban park is located in Kuala Lumpur City Centre and attracts locals and tourists alike. From a huge man-made lake to waterfalls, fountains, jogging trails, and playground, it has something for every age group. Spend your morning wandering through the tree-lined trails and do not forget to pay a visit to nearby As Syakirin Mosque.
Visiting Aquaria KLCC in the afternoon is a great way to spend some quality time with your kids. This aquarium is a perfect combination of entertainment and education. With more than 5,000 animals from land and water, this has become one of the popular tourist attractions in Kuala Lumpur. You can also visit Petrosains, The Discovery Centre for a couple of hours before evening. It has interesting science shows, exhibits, and interactive displays that are exciting for every age group.
Now that you are in this area, head towards Petronas Towers to catch a perfect sunset. The towers that dominate the skyline of the city are also the tallest twin towers in the world. You will be welcomed by the surreal view of the sparkling city below. Do not forget to stop by the colorful water fountains outside and enjoy the vibrant water show.
Day 2 In Kuala Lumpur
Located more than 15 kilometers from the center of the city, Batu Caves are a must visit attraction near Kuala Lumpur. This series of caves and temples is tucked away in the limestone hill in nearby Gombak District. Your 6 Days Kuala Lumpur Itinerary is incomplete without adding this site. If you start your day early in the morning, you will be back in the city before sunset. It will also give you enough time to explore all the details of this historic religious site.
Visit Bukit Bintang area in the evening. Famous for the shopping in Kuala Lumpur, this entertainment district is an ideal place to spend the night. The whole area is dotted with different types of shopping centers, night markets, cafés, bars, pubs, and nightclubs. Experience the unique nightlife in Kuala Lumpur here and soak in the local flavor.
Day 3 In Kuala Lumpur
You can start the 3rd day in the city by visiting the Kuala Lumpur Bird Park. it is home to more than 3,000 birds from more than 200 different species that include local as well as exotic birds. You will also get an opportunity to explore Lake Gardens, also known as Perdana Botanical Gardens, that are located near this bird park. With the history of more than a century, this area attracts thousands of visitors every year. Kuala Lumpur Butterfly Park is also established in the proximity. Considered to be one of the largest butterfly houses in the world, this park houses more than 5,000 butterflies today. Spend an entire day exploring these parks and get away from all the hustle and bustle of the city.
You can visit the National Mosque of Malaysia in the evening. Spread over 13 acres, the mosque is surrounded by well-manicured gardens. This place of worship is so huge that it can accommodate more than 15,000 people at a time. You can also visit Islamic Arts Museum Malaysia that is established in the proximity. It will introduce you to different cultural and religious items that are displayed in over 10 galleries. Head back to the hotel to have a quiet night.
Day 4 In Kuala Lumpur
Enter the day by visiting one of the oldest mosques in Kuala Lumpur. Sultan Abdul Samad Jamek Mosque, locally known as Jamek Mosque or Friday Mosque, is an ideal place to understand the ancient culture of the city. If you are in Malaysia for 5 nights 6 days, try to come here for some time at least. Make sure that you are following traditions and rules while exploring the site.
Do not forget to stop by the Sultan Abdul Samad Building to admire its historic architecture. As the building is located in Merdeka Square, you will also get a chance to visit this landmark square in Kuala Lumpur. This square holds a significant place in the local history because, on 31st August 1957, the Malayan flag was hoisted here for the first time at midnight. This whole area is home to numerous historic buildings and landmark structures.
Spend an evening at the Central Market in Kuala Lumpur. This is the place to pamper your taste buds with local cuisines while enjoying a shopping spree. You can taste Malaysian, Indian, Thai, Indonesian dishes and shop for some lovely souvenirs as well.
Day 5 In Kuala Lumpur
Sri Mahamariamman Temple is nestled in the heart of the city and dates back to 1837. This oldest Hindu temple in Malaysia has become a significant cultural and national heritage over the years. You can visit this temple to offer your prayers as well as admire the exquisite carvings on the walls.
Spend some time at Istana Negara that is hardly 15 minutes away from the temple. This is the Royal Museum that is nestled on the slope of Bukit Petaling and offer a beautiful vista of the Klang River. Built in 1928, the structure has been used for different purposes. Step back in time here to understand more about the glorious past of the city.
When you are spending 6 days in Kuala Lumpur, you must spend an evening at the Kuala Lumpur Tower. This is a communication tower built in 1995 and has a revolving restaurant to make things interesting. You will get a chance to catch a panoramic vista of the city as it has the highest viewpoint in Kuala Lumpur.
Day 6 In Kuala Lumpur
Keep the itinerary for 6th daylight and visit only a couple of places. You can head towards National Zoo of Malaysia that is located in Gombak District. More than 450 species of animals call it home and attract locals and tourists alike. Spend half a day wandering around and see numerous exhibits spread around. You can consider visiting Bukit Tabur - a hill located in the same district. But, keep in mind that it is not possible to cover a whole trail within half a day. You can explore some parts of the hill and be in the heart of nature.
