Day 1 of 2-day Lima
Start your day 1 of Lima sightseeing tour by first visiting the city’s main square - Lima Plaza de Armas (Plaza Mayor). The city’s historic heart and birthplace, a visit here will help you orient with the city. After spending some time here admiring the many palm trees, elaborate flower beds, and fountains, you can next walk to Iglesia de Santo Domingo. one of Lima’s most historic churches, this place is one of the most striking landmarks of the city’s skyline. The church was built in 1599 and many people come here to pay respects to San Martin de Porres - Americas’ first black saint. Also located nearby is Catedral de Lima. This baroque twin-towered church with its soaring ribbed ceilings, mosaic chapels, and pillared aisles is a sight you must not miss. In the afternoon of day 1 of 48 hours Lima tour, you can visit the Lima Chinatown. This neighborhood was founded by the Chinese immigrants and a whopping 1.5 million people live here. Dedicated to all the lovers in the city, this beachside park is a must visit. Later, walk to the city’s most lively and colorful streets - Jiron de la Union. Let your day 2 start on a little artistry note! Head to the Lima Art Museum (Museo de Arte de Lima MALI) first thing in the morning. For a country that has managed to preserve thousands of years of indigenous and civilized culture, this world-class museum will take you through many different periods of Peru. Located 40 kilometers from the city, the Pachacamac Itshma Temple is a site for pre-Inca collection of sand-blasted pyramid temples and palaces that date back 1500 years.
Later at night, you can head to Larcomar Shopping Center for its range of stores, dramatic architecture, and unique settings. With over 160 shops and boutiques, hip bars, and discotheques, this place is one of the best nightlife destinations in Peru.
