2 Days in Lisbon - Perfect Weekend Itinerary

Day 1 in Lisbon

Start off your 48 hours in Lisbon by exploring the heart of the city. The Baixa district and Alfama are centrally located close to each other in Lisbon. First, visit the Baixa district where your first stop would be the Santa Justa Lift which dates back to the 18th century. Then make your way to the huge Rossio Square which is a famous meeting place amongst locals and tourists alike. The square has many good restaurants and cafes. Then you may visit the Commercial Square which not only offers you panoramic views but also serves as an important transport hub. Let your last stops in the Baixa district be the pink Foz Palace and the art deco Eden theater. Then move on to explore the Alfama District. This is a quaint area which effectively makes you step back in time. Navigate through the narrow streets of this district by riding the yellow tram. Make a stop at the Lisbon Castle from where you can treat your eyes to panoramic views of the Baixa district. Then hurry towards the Saint Anthony Cathedral. End your day on a high note by watching the sunset from Miradouro de Santa Luzia. This is an observation deck offering picturesque vistas of the entire city and river Tagus.

Day 2 in Lisbon

On your second and last day in Lisbon, start off early morning by visiting the Belem district which has a number of parks and monuments. This district runs along the banks of River Tagus. You must first visit the beautiful Jeronimos monastery which is a stunning piece of architecture exhibiting different styles. Then stop at the Berardo Collection Museum which has an extensive collection of modern and contemporary art. Then you can admire the stunning Discovery Monument which represents Portuguese Age of Discovery in the 15th and 16th century. If time permits, you may visit the Parks of Nations in Lisbon. This huge park has many features. You must take a ride on the cable car which offers views of the 15 kilometers long Vasco da Gama bridge. Also, a place that deserves your visit to the Park of Nations is the Lisbon Oceanarium which has four huge tanks housing many aquatic animals. End your day by having a delicious Portuguese dinner at any of the numerous restaurants in the park.
