What to see in Lisbon in 7 days?
Day 1 and 2 In Lisbon
You can spend the first two days of the Lisbon trip exploring the town of Cascais which is only 19 miles from the main city of Lisbon. This coastal town is best known for its pristine beaches, museums, and art galleries. Spend first day taking the historical tour of the town and visit the attractions like Fort of São Jorge at Oitavos which was erected during the Portuguese Restoration War, Fortress of Our Lady of Light, Guimaraes Museum, Museu do Mar Rei D. Carlos, Palace of Cascais Citadel and more. You can also visit the neighboring town of Estoril and enjoy gambling at its casinos.
On day 2, spend an entire day at the seafront of Cascais. Start with the seaside cliffs of Boca do Inferno. Sintra-Cascais Natural Park can be your next stop. Head to Praia da Rainha and visit nearby attractions and beaches like Praia da Conceição, Palácio Seixas, Santa Marta Lighthouse. Don’t forget to catch the sunset from the beach and enjoy dinner at one of the beach-side restaurants.
Day 3 and 4 In Lisbon
Taking a walking tour of Baixa and Alfama is one of the best activities you will love during your 7 days in Lisbon. The walking tour will take you to the oldest district of Lisbon, Alfama, which is known for its cobbled narrow streets. If you have an adventurous mind, climb from the Tejo Estuary to the castle to capture the uphill views. While roaming through the old buildings of Alfama, stop at one of the bars or cafes to relish few drinks. Next, head to the Rossio square of Baixa and feel the magnanimity of Lisbon’s majestic center.
Get up on time on day 4 of your 7-day Lisbon trip and go for a one-day trip to the resort town of Sintra. A trip to Sintra will make you forget all the other things and places in the world as its Romanticist buildings like Pena Palace known for its intricate tilework and chimneys and pastel-colored structures will blow your mind. Castle of the Moors, Quinta da Regaleira, Museu Anjos Teixeira etc. are some more places to stop at.
Day 5 and 6 In Lisbon
Explore the Belem district of Lisbon this time. This southwestern part of Lisbon is known for its historic monuments, monasteries, bakeries, and the picturesque landscapes formed by the Tagus River. Make Pasteis de Belém a part of your breakfast. After finishing this delicious breakfast, visit Jeronimos Monastery which is listed as UNESCO World Heritage Site. Stop at Belem Tower and Padrão dos Descobrimentos, and finally, end your day by enjoying the seafood by the river Tagus.
Start off your next day in the parish of Estrela. This is another place where you can feel the rich heritage of Lisbon. Surrounded by huge palaces, mansions, and tall buildings, Estrela was created as a Parish in 2012. Begin by visiting the Royal Basilica of Estrela. The twin bell towers of this Baroque-style 18th-century church is worth admiring. Enjoy a scrumptious lunch at Hotel da Estrela and walk through green space and beautiful lakes of Jardim da Estrela.
Day 7 In Lisbon
As your 7-day Lisbon itinerary has covered most of the important destinations, it’s time to get back to the main city and discover what more it has to offer. Get face to face with marine life at the largest indoor aquarium in Europe- Lisbon Oceanarium. Learn about the animals of Portugal at Lisbon Zoo. You can also enjoy a driver over the Vasco da Gama Bridge. Finally, walk through the streets of Bairro Alto to see an entirely new aspect of Lisbon.
