Experience the royal side -
You can start your 1st day in the city by visiting Royal Palace of Madrid. This 18th-century palace is the official residence of the Spanish Royal Family. But today, it is used for hosting only state ceremonies and is partially open to the public. It is the largest palace in entire Europe and has become one of the famous tourist attractions in Madrid. Its tastefully decorated interiors have several paintings, antique furniture, and the world's only complete Stradivarius string quintet. The exterior flaunts exquisite carvings and sculptures. The well-manicured gardens that are adorned with fountains and flower beds are an ideal place to spend some relaxing time.
You can visit Museo Nacional Del Prado - the main Spanish national art museum nestled in the heart of the city. Established in 1819, the museum has the collection of thousands of paintings, drawings, sculptures, historic documents, and prints. Its art collection dates back to the 12th century and is a treat for art-lovers.
Spending an evening at Buen Retiro Park is a great way to experience the beauty of Madrid. One of the largest parks in the city is spread over 350 acres and is nestled at the center of the city. This vast park is home to numerous places including an artificial pond, monuments, sculptures along with a couple of museums. But, it was dismantled and rebuilt in Madrid in 1960s. It has been built in the Parque del Oeste and has become one of its kind structure in the country.
Another place where you can experience the true culture of Spain is Plaza de Toros de Las Ventas. Popularly known as Las Ventas, this bullring is one of the unique places to visit in Madrid. The season of bullfighting is from March to October, but it is possible to take a tour of the ring throughout the year.
You would love to visit Gran Vía - a street that never sleeps in Madrid. The name means ‘great way’ in English and you will understand how true that is after you have visited this area. It is a bustling shopping hub full of charming cafes, fine dining restaurants, and numerous bars and pubs. It is home to several majestic buildings that add charm to this area. Spend the evening wandering around and go club-hopping as the night progresses.
