A traveler who wishes to experience all of these and much more should plan a vacation to this metropolis city. 5 days in Madrid will be enough to explore it's every nook and corner. Take a look at this itinerary which will let you have an organized trip while letting you have a blast in Madrid.
What to see in Madrid in 5 days?
Day 1 and 2
Start off your first day in Madrid by roaming around the city. Head towards Puerta del Sol - a bustling public square in the city. Many famous historical buildings and landmarks are located in this square. Exploring this place will certainly occupy half of your day. The square also has numerous good cafes and restaurants where you can enjoy authentic Spanish cuisines. Later in the day, you can go cafe hoping to taste the delicacies offered at each one of them. As the night settles, enter into one of the lively clubs of Madrid. Let your hair down and dance until wee hours to have a blast. On your second day in Madrid, make a trip down to El Escorial which is a monastery built in the second half of the 16th century. This monastery is some 45 kilometers away from Madrid. You can either rent a car or hire a cab to reach this place.
Day 3 and 4
Dedicate your third day in Madrid to admiring some fine art by visiting Museo del Prado. This beautiful art gallery has artworks that date back between the 1400s to 1800s. The museum houses artwork of many notable artists including Botticelli, Mantegna, Bosch, Rembrandt, and Rubens. Later in the day pay a visit to Real Jardin Botanico. Home to over a 100 species of tree and more than 3,000 types of plants, this green oasis will certainly rejuvenate you. For another round of tasting the Madrid nightlife, head towards the Gran Via area where you will find numerous bars and clubs that come alive with a variety of music. On your fourth day in Madrid, make a day trip down to Toledo. This used to be the former capital of Spain. Visiting this medieval quaint city will definitely transport you back in time. The town has numerous attractions that will keep you engaged for the entire day.
On your last day, start off by visiting Palacio Real that is the Royal Palace. Home to one of the largest library, it has around 3000 rooms that boast of the royalty enjoyed during ancient times. Exploring the entire palace will certainly require around 3 hours. You may then have a quick lunch and then visit the El Rastro flea market. This place will tempt you to shop till you drop. After spending some good hours shopping for your favorite items, you may then visit a bar to taste the local Spanish culinary called Tapas.
