What to see in 3 days in Mexico City?
Start your day 1 with Mexico City essentials! The city’s ancient heart - Centro Historico has many traces of city’s colonial past. This part of the city also has some of the best museums, galleries, and incredible architecture for you to discover. Once the capital of the mighty Aztec empire, this neighbourhood is best explored on foot. Next, visit the Zócalo. One of the most important squares in Mexico City, this place has one of the largest cathedrals in the Americas – the Metropolitan Cathedral. A few other attractions that you can explore here are the National Palace, Paseo Madero, Casa de los Azulejos, and Palacio Postal.
Later visit the Palacio of Bellas Artes for its music, dance, and theatre. In the evening, visit the Torre Latinoamericana. One of the city’s most important landmarks, this place will treat you to some sweeping views of the glitzy city. If you are going to be in the city on a Tuesday or a Friday night, you must check out the Lucha Libre show at night. This dirtier and rougher version of wrestling must not be given a miss!
On day 2 of your 3D/2N Mexico City itinerary, visit Roma Norte in the morning. This part of the city is hip and quirky with its many restaurants, bars, and museums. While here you can visit Museo del Objeto del Objeto to check out its excellently curated exhibits, walk past the Casa Universitaria del Libro and admire its architecture, visit the Galería OMR and check out its contemporary art galleries. In the afternoon, you can visit Helado Obscuro to enjoy watermelon mojito or some fruity vodka.
In the later part of the day, visit Condesa. Packed with many trendy boutiques, here you can indulge in some retail therapy. Later, visit the Foro Shakespeare to watch a play. In the evening, put on your dancing shoes and go dancing at one of its nightclubs. Here the party continues till the wee hours.
Make your last day in Mexico City a rather colourful one. In the morning, visit the La Casa Azul followed by the Mercado de Coyoacan, both situated in the Coyoacan district. The casa is best known for its distinctive blue walls that served as the childhood home of Frida Kahlo. In the afternoon, you can wander around this peaceful neighbourhood before picking up a few things from an authentic Mexican market. In the evening, visit Xochimilco. A 100-mile network of canals here ferry many gondola boats. You can also explore the floating market here.
