How to spend 1 day in Montpellier?

Morning

Begin the day by enjoying a morning walk through the lush canopy of trees at esplanade Charles-de-Gaulle. Capture the sight of beautiful fountains present in the park. Have your breakfast at one of the cafes located in the vicinity of the park. Just 5 minutes on foot from the park is Notre-Dame des Tables de Montpellier, a beautifully built church located in the heart of the old village of Montpellier. You will need at least an hour to take a tour of the paintings, artwork, and architecture of this church.

Afternoon

You can spend the afternoon in Musée Fabre, a wonderful museum that houses a huge collection of paintings by the famous painters Delacroix and Raphael. To explore the talent of these European masters, you need around 2 hours in the museum. Just at a walking distance from the museum is the Montpellier Cathedral which is a must-visit during your 24 hours in Montpellier. Declared as a national monument, this iconic cathedral is famous for its conical towers. At a stone’s throw from the Cathedral, you will find Jardin des plantes de Montpellier. This historic botanical garden and arboretum is home to about 2000 species of plants exploring which you will require an hour.

Evening

You can visit another museum of the city at evening called Musee Et Conservatoire D'Anatomie. You will discover thousands of human anatomical parts in this medicine museum. Take a guided tour of the iconic arch of Porte du Peyrou and its surroundings. You will love the calm vicinity of Jardin de Peyrou Park. After exploring the sculptures and medallions, your final destination in the city will be the beautiful bi-arch built in the 18th century called Saint-Clément Aqueduct.
