After a hearty South Indian breakfast of Idlis and Wadas, start your one-day trip to Ooty by first visiting the Pykara Waterfalls. Located at about 25 kilometres north-west of Ooty, these magnificent waterfalls are open to public visit from 08:30 in the morning.

Located nearby a pretty little village of Pykara where the gushing river makes it way. On the way back to Ooty, stop at the Wenlock Downs, a vast expanse of grassy meadows that just doesn’t seem to end. Named after Sir Arthur Lawley's sibling Beilby Lawley, third Baron Wenlock, these 20,000 acres of rolling lands are covered with Shola forest. Perfect to enjoy your second chia of the day, spend a few moments here.

The Kamaraj Sagar, on your way back, is another place that you can stop by. A wonderful picnic spot and a great place to spot many birds, this lake have a few restaurants nearby where the delectable curd rice with mustard tempering waits for you. By the late afternoon, as you are back in town, head to the Ooty Lake to enjoy a pleasurable boat ride.

One of the most visited places in Ooty, the Ooty Lake offers paddle boats, motor boats, and rowboats. To end the day's adventures, visit the Botanical Gardens. Located in the foothills of Dodabetta Peak, this park has more than 600 species of neatly curated plants, shrubs, and trees.
